    Stuck bleeder screws

    Ok.

    So the 318 is ready to get on the road, I just need to bleed the brakes but the bleeder screws are seized and stripped. I've tried a pair of vise grips and no dice, I tried tapping them with a hammer and no dice. Right now they're covered in pb blaster..

    Any ideas? I was thinking blow torch to heat them up. I really don't want to break them and then have to re thread them.

    Lots of PB blaster over a day, and then blowtorch. Heck, once you get 'em out, dab a little anti-seize on 'em for the future.

      Now do I only need to crack 2 of them (RF LR vise versa) or do I need all 4?

        Those are your brakes you are talking about. Don't be stupid, bleed all four.

          When was the last time you flushed the fluid? I'd certainly bleed all four until you have some nice fresh fluid pouring out of those bastards!

            if soaking them in pb doesnt work, go for the torch. but keep that shit away from the rubber lines, they 'splode.

              Easy out with a drill/vicegrips, then run a tap through the hole to chase out the old threads.

              Get new bleeder screws.

              *edit* take the calipers off the car and drain them before you do this

                  I'm well aware of this, but some cars it's only necessary to bleed 2 of the 4.

                  And the reason I need to bleed them is I just did new hard lines in the rear, and all new stainless soft lines all the way around.



                  I snapped one of the bleeders, so it looks like i'm drilling them out.

                  Anybody know what size the bleeders are. M6?

                      I wasn't saying you were stupid Just saying don't BE stupid, brakes are the most important system on any car.

                      Since you have replaced hard lines and all rubber lines it is required you bleed all four.

                      I am not sure on bleeder size, but m6 sounds right.

                        I snapped the rear left, and got the rear right out. It was pretty funny, it was turning but I thought it was going to break, then I heard a big long hiss. Sigh of relief after that. lol

                        I think I figured it out though, I beat the shit out of it lightly with a hammer after torching it for 10 minutes.

                          i got a 7mm six point box end just for doing the brakes...

                          the first time was visegrips and a torch...i left mine on the car

                          after i got them out..i replaced all of them

                            i usually put a drill bit inside the bleeder screw when breakin em loose. keeps them from collapsing on themselves unless you have one thats real stubborn.

                              "SUCK MY FUCKING BALLS!"

                              Is what I said when I got the other 3 out, heat and them working them back and forth lightly with vise grips. Fuck the back left i'll just take the caliper off my 325 and put it on there.

                              Does anyone know if you have to do anything special to bleed the ABS unit?
