selling your e30 in the slow economy

i'm considering getting another e30 and selling my vert.

the thing is, in this slow economy i wonder how long it will take for the vert to sell.

e30 guys who have recently sold your car, or are currently trying to sell it, how long did it take? has anyone been tryoing to sell for a while without success?

I'd love to keep them both, but due to limited parking space i can afford to keep just one ride.

i do not think you will have to hard of a time. i have been parting out my 318 and all the parts are selling well. i have also been keeping an eye on craigslist and all the good cars are gone within a week or so. i just read an article in a small bmw mag about bmw's which are great cars for the currant times and the e30 was one of them along with the e24 5 and 6 models.

The way I look at it these cars arent worth enough to make a difference with the economy the way it is.

Cash cars hardly decrease in value during a tough economy.

Take that shit to a collector and tell them Burt Reynolds was the PO. Someone will buy it.

I know its not a E30 but, I have been trying to sell my GTI since june or july. Still no serious offers, I'm pretty sure its because people are afraid to spend money in this economy. It really sucks because I want to buy an E30 when i sell my GTI.

I would not try and sell a 'vert in winter.

I make the cars as nice as I can, then sell for a bit less than it is worth.

Clean, shiny, everything in good working order.

I sell stuff in the condition (and price) that I would be willing to buy it in.

Yeah, at least wait until summer. Very few idiots out there that will buy a cabrio in the winter. OR, you can have the car shipped to me, I'll keep it for you until you can get parking, then you can have it back.

I posted my car on craigslist and got like ten emails in about an hour. One guy seems serious and wants to drive from PA to buy it. It has 220k on it and several small issues which I openly disclose to anybody who asks. I posted it for $2500.

I think that if I were to try harder the car would already be gone.

Well, look at it this way: People have less money and may need something other than their gas guzzler new leased car. They may take a hit and pay a small cash payment on a sturdy "name brand" car. Some people like the idea of buying an older Mercedes or BMW instead of a cash honda or ford as they can always say "Well, it's a BMW!"

People are cheap as shit. They only want something if its for free. But theres always that one person that will appreciate the car, and dish out reasonabe money. Where you live, you could be waiting a long time though.

I think the warm climate areas (where there are always alot of transients) will be harder to sell anything. These are the areas that are hurting the most. If you were anywhere in the rust belt, listing a car as a 100% rust free so-cal car, you would be alot more likely to get a bite.

                            right on.
i'll just detail it, cover it up and sell it in the spring at least.
in the mean time i'll just have to park the new hard top outside.
                            no biggie.
