    2 way radios?

Are all 2 way radios compatible if they are on the same channel? My friend and i are going to get some 6mile uniden 2 ways but most people have the motorola talk abouts so we were wondering if we could still communicate? Thanks

Oh sweet, then its ok, What about an FAA licence. I know anything over 2 miles usually requires them. How do they know if you dont? How hard is it to get one? Thanks

If you can buy these 2-way radios and there's nothing mentioned about getting an operators license then I wouldn't worry about it. Quite honestly I didn't think that was required with portable radios. If I'm mistaken someone please clarify.

FRS radio=2 mile range, no license needed.

GMRS radio=5 mile range, license needed.
