has anyone ever fixed their central locking on an e30?

As long as I have been surfing here and on bf.c i have yet to read a post about somebody coming out victoriously with a functional central locking. Am I missing something?

Mine has never showed any semblance of working...though it occasionally makes a feeble whining noise when I lock the driver's side door. It would be nice to fix it if possible!

My car doesnt even lock. I put the key in to lock it on the drivers side door, and turn it to lock it. Then, the lock inside acts like it wants to go down, but doesnt. The passengers side door is then locked, but the drivers side isnt.

              Fix me lukeeeee!

thats a broad question. Narrow the source of your problem. Mine was with the circuit board

You could also have problems with the connection at the door

Or the locking mechanism at the key hole.

Mine turned out to be corroded pins in the doorjam connector and 1 bad passenger side actuator. Then went to keyless entry soon after.

The PO of my car disabled central locking because, "it's prone to going bad." Great, thanks. I still haven't figured out what he did to get mine working again.

I'm wondering if thats what the PO of mine did as well. He certainly wasn't the smartest about cars and didn't seem to care much about doing a job right when it needed to be done. My problem is obviously that my central locking does not work:

I can lock/unlock my passenger door with the key but not the drivers door. I can unlock the drivers door with the key but when i turn it 45º clockwise I can hear a relay click in the door and then another click but nothing happens.

I'm not too sure, you might want to check the control module as posted earlier. I tried swapping mine out to no avail, so I think he may have cut wires or something.

My car locks and unlocks just like a car without power locks. I have no problem locking/unlocking and hear no relays click.

when i turn the driver's door lock (outside) to "dead bolt" all the way to the right. it gets stuck there and i need to take my spare key and use the trunk to actuate it while i jimmy the door lock back on the drivers door.

everything else works flawlessly. i think it is something physical not electronic. it is just like it gets stuck when i turn the drivers door all the way to the right. any ideas?

BTW i replaced the tumbler assembly when i first got the car 4 years ago because the PO (my mechanic said they tend to get warn out and my was loose)

I would imagine the problem is the central locking motor piece( the red thing in the door that pulls it closed)- in the drivers door
