Im here to say that an eta that is running properly is plenty quick for what it is. You can still have fun, and make good times autocrossing and what not in an eta. Unfortunately, most people didnt take care of them so they run like shit.
Replace all references sensors, get the cooling up to par, and all ignition and you should be fine (given that all cylinders are within spec in a leakdown test).

Of course, by the time you did all this to an eta, you could probably just buy a late model E30 with a b25 or an m42 powered model. Wah wah.

On Topic: I love driving my wifes eta around. sure its not I fast, but damn it handles and brakes well, well enough i forget about its off the line speed. sure i have almost $3000 into it, but its worth it.
