Who has looked at or owns a newer BMW?

Just wondered how you like them, I stopped in at the dealer yesterday and got more excited about restoring my current cars than buying a new one :???: they just don't feel right  except the 2 seaters, and maby the M3, makes me want to go look at Porsches, e46 was beautifull, but feels huge inside, e90 is nice on the inside, but WTF on the outside Get the design studios back to Germany! :hitler:

This place is like catholic school, 2/3 of the students smoke weed on a daily basis, but the faculty seems to convince the outside world that drugs are just in the other schools, the resident pot dealer thinks he's cool because he has the originality to call anyone he doesn't like a homosexual, and most of the little children follow him like sheep, then there's the few with brains, you hardly ever hear from them, perhaps don't even know they exist, but they get all the sh!t done.

Wife owns an e46 m3 cabrio. She putz around in it, and I set her up with 19" staggered (of course) BBS LM reps.

Build quality is much better than an E36, and the chassis feels like its carved out of granite (both in weight and rigidity).

I've been working on BMW's since the early 80's...

I dig the new ones for how slick and tech advanced they are...

But I hate them for how slick and advanced they are...

Never have failures been so complicated and expensive to fix...

ditto on the e36 comment from above... Chassis was a real pile of wobbly junk.

looked at a 135i back in march, have not been able to find another one since to look at. I like it but have yet to drive one. Will prolly be disappointed and that will cause me to spend huge amounts of money on my e30 or a different e30.

I've driven the 135i twice, and it's quick but I really didn't like the steering rack feel. ymmv

                    Z4 3.0si Coupe!!

I leased a 2008 Z4 3.0si Coupe 6 speed manual through my work with BMW and I love it. It's got all the lightness and tightness of my old E30 325is and it has great crash protection and fuel mileage. It's a beautiful car, but it needs a Limited Slip and larger front tires. At lease-end I'll buy it and start the modding!! It feels like it has the essence of the E30s: turn in, good suspension compliance, straightforward design. I still can't figure out how it weighs 200 lbs more than my 87 325is.....

Only 200lbs? that's pretty good considering how much more sound deadening and electronics it's got.

A lot of structural parts that were steel in the older chassis are alloy now.

And the electronic run over a buss rather than a big ass harness of wire.

the 135i six-speeds are fast as hell and fun to drive

friend of mine has an e60 550i sport/6m he let me putt in for a couple weeks, and by "putt" I mean drive the crap out of. Very capable and nice car, just too $$$

E46 > E36 > E30. I own one of each and i can tell you that they just keep getting better. The funny thing is as i mod each one i'm usually trying to make it more like the next generation. The truth is the E30 just feels ilke an old car to me, nothing really special about it. My E36 M3 is a fantastic car but i which it rode like my wife's E46 330i. I love my wifes 330 but i which it had Bluetooth, Nav and an ipod adaptor like the newer cars.

Saying an E30 is better than an E90 is like saying a Walkman is better than an Ipod.

ive never been inside an e36. but ive been in an e46. very nice. i like it. its not "too big" inside the car..its comfortable. ive only been in an e30 and an e46.

correction. i sat in an e36 M3 vert at a meet once.
