    New member here......

    Hey all, I just registered....

I just rediscovered how great E30's are. I raced an E30 M3 in BMW CCA and NASA for a few years. I moved on to an E36 from there, and on the street I've been driving an E36 M3 (now sold) and a Porsche 996.

I just picked up a 1989 E30 325is, and I can't say how much I love driving the thing, Altough it doesn't have the power of the E36, I love tossing it around corners the way I never could with the E36, and don't want to in the 996. I feel like I'm "rediscovering" the E30 magic.

Since I bought it, I've gone completely through just about every tune up/maintenance item, and the car's running really strong, except for a somewhat rough warm idle. On throttle, though, it's smooth as silk. So I'll be doing some searches on idle issues you guys may have posted about in the past.

Anyway, I hope I can contribute to your community. I'll spend most of my time initially here just seeing how the place works. Thanks. Scott.

PS. Here's a couple shots of the car, right after I bought it. I now have replaced the tires with 225/45-17's all the way around (if you look closely at the photos you'll see that the previous owner had a larger (50) aspect ratio on the front than the back (45) for some weird reason.

well he was half right. You should have different aspect ratios front to back but the difference is you should have (stock) 205/50 on the fronts and 225/45 on the rear.

If those are staggered Alpinas I spy, currently worth as much as you probably paid for the car (or more if you got a deal on the car).

One question I have is you said 17s. Are you sure? If so those are either knockoffs or you should have 5 lugs under there (although the lips look like the ET28 E30 wheels)
        Im now E30less.

Wow, Ryan, nice eye.....they're Alpina 7's and 8's. I tossed the old tires and put on 225/45's all the way around.....didn't want the understeer that can come with the 205's. The car looks a lot better and handles great now. You're right, too, I typo'd 17's......they're 16's.

I've looked at the value of the Alpinas. The previous owner gave me the receipts, and the owner prior to him paid about $360 each back in '95, if I remember right.

Thanks for maintaining R3V, Ryan. Thanks for the welcomes, everyone else.

They look clean. If they are mint then they are worth more than most E30s

The suspension setup looks like a nice setup too. It looks like you found a car from an enthusiast. Great find!

Dont worry, we will have you convinced that your old car was a POS and that E30s are the pinnacle of BMW engineering within 6 months.... then you will be one of us, one of us, one of us. :jk:

Too bad you have the lower rear arch, or you could fit 245s on the back. ;)
                  Im now E30less.

Im gonna take it kinda off topic from the "Hey I;m a noob, look at me!' and ask how the 225s all around look?

I have 225 up front and 245 in back on mine. I corrected the understeer the same way Alpina did with a stiffer rear bar (although I wasnt willing to spend 400 on just a rear bar)

Also, start a post in "Members Rides" of this car with updated pics and specs on this car (i.e suspension and other mods) as we are all dying to know.
                              Im now E30less.
