I HATE it. I am the suckiest sales person I know, and management is starting to notice. The discount totally ROCKS. Everything else about the job is horrible. You'd think.. with being non-commissioned sales, you wouldn't have any pressure. NOT TRUE. Management is constantly nagging about selling a certain amount of service plans etc.

Even the service reps have to do a fair amount of pushy sales stuff, atleast at the store here. I'd be absolutely certain you could enjoy doing that before you take the job. Just my .02
Yep, I worked in the comp department at circuit city this this past winter and spring and I can definatly relate to what you are saying. I was a pretty decent salesman, could get the service plans when I needed to, but I still hated the job. Yeah, you really have to love to sell if you want to get into consumer electronics retail. Don't do it just because you love computers, because love for computers doesn't necissarely sell them.

It was so sweet ass working for Circuit City's bank FNANB. It sucks that they sold it to BankOne or whatever now because I totally loved that job. I would handle the credit card applications, do fraud accounts, and occasionally help store associates and customers with their applications. It was too much fun.

There was so much fraud and theft in my circuit city, it was rediculous. Someone charged a $1000 camera to a stolen card, and someone in my dept actually did the sale. The guy was caught a couple hours later trying to do it again. Lol. And random projection tvs would be missing, you know, the normal things to happen. And one of my friends that worked with me was approached by someone asking that asked him to help steal plasma tvs for him. He gave him his card and everything

At one time I assisted in a call that was clearly fraud. This guy was attempting to buy like 4 projection tvs, 2 ps2's, and a shitload of DVDs. I had to keep him on the phone to buy time by "verifying" credit information and pretty much blow smoke up his ass while the store associates unloaded the merchandise from his U-haul he showed up in to get the stuff. After they unloaded the truck I had to advise the customer that he couldn't verify the correct credit bureau information and that I would have to decline his application. He quickly bolted from the store.

Another time this guy was attempting to open an account with a fake ID. It had his real picture with someone elses information. After talking to me the guy left the store in a hurry but the dumbass left the ID. Needless to say I got in contact with the victim of the identity theft and told him where to find a picture of the guy. So yeah, he got a jail sentence.

          I loved that job.
