    Keys

For some reason my normal key won't work on my drivers door (only) but my wallet key opens the drivers door every time.

So, I want to make a copy of the wallet key.
How much does the dealer charge for blanks?
Would a local "key cutting place" have bmw blanks or is it something you have to get from the dealer?

Buy those blanks off of ebay and then take it to a lock smith place and have them cut it.

If you want an actual BMW blank key, you're gonna have to get it from the dealer. I did a quick run through the ETK but couldn't find the blank keys.

I'd go ahead and get the lighted key, if you still can... they rock.

I have an uncut lighted one sitting right in front of me. I don't want to get it cut if it's not going to work that's why I want to try a norm key first($).
maybe i'll just get it cut.

Where can I get a pro to cut a key? I don't want some 14 year old from home depot doing it.

Has anyone tried putting an e30 key into one of the newer BMW keys?

For my dealer the cost was $26 and that was with the light insert and the cutting paid for. So $26 gets you the lighted key that works.

Does the dealer use the VIN to make a key or just dub one?

I have only one master, went to ACE to see if they had any blanks, nope. They have Merc, but no BMW. I don't get it either.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

I have two orignal lighted keys. Do they have batteries??? The lights don't work anymore. I would like to use them. but i use the skinny black key instead. One lighted key opens the doors only, the other does ignition and doors..

                              Can you change the battery?
