strange...i got one of those blanks with the light in it from ebay for 25. i called the dealer (niello) and they were dumbshits as usual, telling me they are laser cut and i have to wait 2 weeks and bring a VIN and drivers license and all kinds of crap before i could get them. Stores like home depot, longs drugs, etc will not cut them as they use a machine that doesn't have the bmw template. i ended up bringing it to ace hardware and they were like "uh? i guess we could try to cut it". they did a practice cut on an ilco bmw key, and after it worked, they cut mine. i got to keep both of them for free :) just find a hardware store that does manual key cuts.
I retired my E30 for now...

For my dealer the cost was $26 and that was with the light insert and the cutting paid for. So $26 gets you the lighted key that works.
that is dealership cost? what is the customer cost?
No, that is what I paid for it.
You probably would need to take your title or something, I just took the blank for them to copy and I didnt need proof. That may be because my dad and I know a lot of people up there.
The lighted keys are pretty cool. I changed mine to an LED. Its usefull in the movies when your cellphone or change slips out of your pocket. Use your key to find it. Also when I show my keys to other people, they go "wow.. it lights up!" But thats about all its usefull for. :D
