    Calling all Beer Drinkers...

Where can I buy a Keg shell to own? I'd like to get one of the smaller "pony" kegs to save room but i have no idea where to get one. A keg that would fit in a mini fridge would be ideal. Custom kegerator would be sweet.

Not sure, but when you get kegs at liqour stores, don't you have the option to keep the keg, and just not get a "deposit" back?

I've only heard of the deposit method, but i'm not too sure as i'm not of age yet to buy the kegs myself. My roommates and i will have 1 full size fridge and 3 mini's. So i'm looking into conversion kits to convert one of the smaller fridges into a kegerator.

Go to some ot the liquor stores and ask around...If it's for a keg cooler/fridge a lot of store owners will forego the deposit as long as you're a regular customer. That's what the store in my town did for me. :drink: :drink: :drink:

go to a local frat house, they'll probably have 10 empty cans piled up somewhere outside

you dont *have* to give the keg back. Its just like a core fee.

Many a time during our field parties we had to ditch the kegs to get away from the cops without MIPs.

You also get to know your local paintball shop or medical supply place real well too. Places like Wal-Mart and sports stores tend not to like to fill anything but paintball tanks.

Most restaruants keep their empty kegs behind the restaruant. Just roll up one night, start looking around. Carrabbas they keep em in the trash cage with the trash/recycle bin, and other places do the same or have a special shed. If one of your friends works at a restaruant im sure he could get you one.for free.

Restuarants and Frat houses are prime targets for empty kegs, along with jacking one from someone elses party, Or simply go throw down on the dep. throw a keg party charge for cups and you'll make the dough for the keg shell. I jacked mine I had in school from a restuarant, was Charlie's Lodge at 79th and State Line, and it was full.
When I was in undergrad I found that coming in with an empty shell you don't get carded to often they figure got a shell got an ID.

A full sized keg would be easier to come by than a 1/4 keg. I'm looking for a "pony" keg that would fit in a mini fridge.

and yes i could see where you would get to know the local paintball store very well, u gotta keep the Co2 take filled or no beer for you...

do they even sell refillable pony kegs? when i was keg shopping, they sold whole kegs, have kegs, and 1/4 kegs, but they were all the same size, just full, half full, and 1/4 full
