hahah, I think cops everywhere hates Californians. I would go from out of staters too, probably 99% will just pay the fine.
OP sounds like a nice drive, I would rather go when it s a little cooler though maybe see some leaves change colors. Why'd do you wanna do the southwest? Doesn't seem as cool to me, the only reason I would do it is just to drive up the CA coast.sigpicComment

Naahh its the huge influx of Californians that have moved in and taken over and are trying to turn it in to Socal with snow for 4 months of the year, property prices included. So the locals and cops kinda frown of Ca plates.
OP sorry for the thread jack. Do it road trips are a blast I do them 2-4 times a year going from job to job and back to home. Other that Pac cost highway stay off the interstates, hit the main state highways and back roads small towns are the way to go, you meet lots of great and different people find some of the best food and some of the wost for that matter you will eat in small town diners. Ask around where there are other neat places to see off the beaten path, be friendly an out going and you will have a trip to remember for a life time. You meet the dammdist (sp) people in truck stops, rest stops or dinners in the middle of no where.
I once meet a guy that went to the same HS I did 1600mi from there in the middle of no where ND he actually grew up 3 miles from my house (in MI) and remembers my Grand parents helping his family 30 years ago after their farm burnt down. The world is much smaller than you think. Or when I lost a alt/h20 pump belt in my e30 in kadoka SD last spring, every person that drove by (5-6 in 3 hours) asked if I was ok. hell the 1st guy took all my info about my car and drove 30 miles round trip out of his way to town to get me a belt and to coolant paid for it and brought it back. I offered to pay him for his fuel and he would not have it. He asked if I had the tools to fix it and well what guy leaves for a Cross country trip in a e30 with out the tool bag.

I've always always wanted to drive on those long stretchs of roads in the deserts, especially in the morning when the sun is rising over the plateaus and whatnot.hahah, I think cops everywhere hates Californians. I would go from out of staters too, probably 99% will just pay the fine.

Like Route 66, call me weird, but I've always wanted to drive on that and esperience a part of history.

if you come down through Havasu there are some cool roads that paralell the hwy and run through some cool old towns (bouse is an old ghost town that wyatt erp have some connection with). route 66 is fun to drive, yuma prison, tomb stone, flagstaff (part of route 66), is not as cool as it used to be since the CA people started moving in , but it is still worth visiting, oak creek canyon, sedona.
once you get your route planned, i can give you a better idea what you can hit in az.seien Sie größer, als Sie erscheinen

get/borrow a cb radio. i drove to florida and back last weekend with my friend. We averaged 95-100 the whole way, thanks to having 10 miles warning of speedtraps.
Also, getting truckers riled up is a good timeburner.

They aren't too empty anymore. Sometimes I want to drive flat roads where I don't see anyone or anything for 10s of miles. I drove almost all the way through AZ and theres always cops or semis. Maybe the Midwest is like that, cornfields are cool.I've always always wanted to drive on those long stretchs of roads in the deserts, especially in the morning when the sun is rising over the plateaus and whatnot.

SoCal with snow would be awesome! I know what you mean though, and we don't know how to act. Or drive when its not 74 degrees out and sunny. They just wintering up there or moving in? We need to get rid of some people.
OP--when you make it to San Diego, meets are every Wednesday night.sigpicComment

this is actually what im really excited for, the chance to experience those places and people that are off the beaten path that you would never ever have the chance to see/meet if you weren't doing a road trip like this.Naahh its the huge influx of Californians that have moved in and taken over and are trying to turn it in to Socal with snow for 4 months of the year, property prices included. i remember i was on a bus with my football team up to oregon over the summer and we passed this "Bigfoot Museum" somewhere in Oregon. I just think it would be cool to stop at random places like that.
