this is a rough sketch of what i want to do, the pipe needs more bends than that but this is just to give the idea of what im going after

why wouldn't you just figure out a way to route the hose using the original airbox at this point?

If you could make something for us 24v guys, in 3.5" HFM side for the euro HFM, I might be down :)

I wouldn't mind something that went to the foglight location, E46 M3 CSL style. I wouldn't want to use it during the winter months though. ;)

is the piping really that neccesary? It looks like more of a restriction than a benefit. I think having a path from the front of the car to your "airbox" with an open filter would be better than forcing it to breath through a tube with all those bends in it..

I think the car would be fine without them, if most people who would be interested in this design are like me, meaning the car is daily driven and rarely pushed to the point where that cooling is needed, water would be a problem though

The factory ducts are not even pointed at the brakes, they just dump into the wheelwell.

Thats probably a legitamate concern, but some early models had no brake ducts to begin with, so my guess is its not too crucial.

And DC had a nice cooling system a while back, so my guess is under extreme conditions, those OEM ducts dont cut it.

i have been thinking of a set up similar to that that was influenced by my friends CAI in his rsx

That looks sick by the way, does the heat shield still make a difference?
okay. with this setup a shield is not needed, but my filter was still cool to the touch after driving for an hour.
