I have mine routed to my brake cooling duct with a mesh in the front, stops most debris before it even goes into the filter, and even if it was restricted, the filter will still get that nice warm air from the bay.
yup but that filter got discontinued. heres some progress

I did some tests with it.

so far I like it alot, its a little quieter than foam filter but thats fine. The filter fit right in their. I'm still brain storming but I should have the kit done pretty quick. I did lots of tests with the filter its a little cooler than the previous kit when i got home and touched it the filter was very cool to touch.

Can you please make one that comes out of the hood with some type of snorkel on it? I like to partake in my local rally events and there are some very deep puddles.

    And Kamotors,

How intricate can you get with forming ABS?

I'm thinking you could build a complete housing... We should talk
technically I could make something kinda intricate, I like drafting. I had a really cool heat shield with lots of bends and folds that I never ended up selling because I noticed that if it cooled too quick it cracked. ABS can only do so much.

I am not poking fun at your build; if anything I am commenting because I would be interested in the final product hence the cost query. I have been looking into the similar product from bmairfilters but their product is mainly in Europe. Make it afforable and we will see.

There's no point in routing the intake all the way down the to brake ducts, all it would do is suck up more shit from the road and create more complexity.

I basically have an infinite supply of these filters because they are being custom made. I'm here for some suggestions not people saying how stupid cold air intakes are, if I can get cooler air temps than the OEM air box, snorkel, headlight shield setup I'm happy. I was really happy with my last kit, its was very unrestrictive, easy to maintain and really got cooler I.A.T's. this kit will be for basically all e30's because the filter is already shielded.

So please tell me what you would like to see included in this kit.
I can either do it the same way I have been with the hose that leads to the grill or I can have a nice short hose that leads to the triangle betwen each headlight, the triangle method would require the owner to dremel the slots so air can flow threw it.

Good Idea on the kit. At what cost though?

i am not discrediting your placement of the the intake "hose".

you were talking about comming from a different location, so i brought up the brake duct like i told you about. that method would require some extra modification to make it work to the best of it's abilities.

you are not going to collect much crap with a splitter in place. you are just directly feeding air to the filter, not forcing it directly into the filter

I've monitored the I.A.T.s for quite some time and at all the speeds I've hit there hasn't been a speed where my I.A.T.s start rising because of a "VOID".

CorvallisBMW isn't talking about the splitter making high pressure and then going into the grills he's saying that the bumper will create high pressure into the grills.

all I know is that at 60mph the I.A.T. starts dropping real quick and even gets below the O.T. which i'm pretty happy with, the grill seems to be a pretty good spot to cool the radiator so why not cool an air filter?

    Thats what i thought too.

Id think if anything, the brake duct area, with a splitter and lip beneath it.. but then you have to woory about crap getting in it

But just above the bumper isnt grille.. Its part of the valance.. would the high pressure still make it up to the grilles?
