I'm too lazy to draw a picture, but Nando's posted link explains it well.
think that was my link but that is a great site for any diy stuff crazy Aussies

i wish some one would make something that was a round to square transfer to help out the airflow into the AFM. Its basically a calibrated orifice there crap for flow

I bet with just a smooth ramp you could get 3-5% better flow out of it

the M30 AFM has a smooth ramp into the square. I've been using the M30 AFM for a few months and I'm very happy with it.

if the part number ends in 027 then yes, you will also need 19lb injectors.

i was checking that out my brother did that set but i want to get some testing in first on a measured flow bench to see if you get the same output for the same a flow and that its just a bigger box

If it works out thats the plan before the MS upgrade

What if there was a way to mount the filter as close to the the AFM as possible, and then just focus on designing an air-tight funnel to run to your source? That way you are allowed more flexibility in regards to pipe size/diameter. And if the system is built air-tight, it theoretically shouldn't lose vacuum as it makes its way to the filter element.

i honestly like these ideas i somewhat did the same... ill be cutting a large hole right next to the abs and will set up a pipe that will go down like the cold air intakes for the e36's... i don't mind the cutting... lol ...

I like the cutting of the grill. I might do that today it would probably help with my m30 box.

yeah, I need some money so I'm selling my current kit so I can buy stuff to make a better kit in the future.

it took about 15minutes with a dremel to shave the grill open like that.

the hose is half the length as it was before.

the old style kit weighed under 4lbs
this new kit weighs about 2lbs

I like the second one. How did you get your boot over the m30 afm. I hate the way mine looks with an adapter.
(pay no attention to my mock up filter)

I'm thinking you could build a complete housing... We should talk
I'm way ahead of you dan. I even bought a brand new oem shield to make sure my dimensions will come from an unwarped piece. I was going to use some molding wax to shape it until i found out we have a rapid prototype machine at school. I was initially thinking of making a mold for fiberglass and CF units.

The trick is to use pre bent sections and weld them together. There is actually a plastic tubing kit you can buy at autozone and such that is specifically for designing intake tubing. Cheap too. And they sell bypass valves specifically for intakes mounted in this location on ebay for wet weather use.
