            why?

probably to show what the shop is capable of doing. As ugly that car looks, I'd say that the extent of bodywork is pretty impressive.
It's rediculous how much demand there is for custom work on a car in Japan. Every car seem to have been tastefully modded, sometimes abused, and on occasion, horribly overdone (like this NSX).

yah, i too agree that the bodywork is really impressive. I only ask why because yes it's overdone, but i still applaud the quality and craftmanship of the work done.

OK well... keep this in mind.

The body was sculpted from foam.
Fiberglass was layered ontop of that
Fiberglass was sanded down, and smoothed with bondo.

                  I don't want a fiberglass & bondo car.

In a accident that would turn into a bloody stack of toothpicks.

CF vacuum pressed in a giant autoclave is just a tiny bit stronger the hand laid fiberglass mat and bondo.

lb for lb CF is what? 3 times stronger then steel?

yes, but the car will still crumble into a million peices. CF is stronger than steel in certain aspects, but it also cracks when steel will bend. remember that wrecked enzo on ebay a while back? there's no way to properly repair a CF chassis after an accident like that..

you can't fault ferrari though. you're not *supposed* to crash it!

Yes and no.. I have the feeling that Enzo saw a VERY tragic ending at high speeds.

When Mercedes was showing off its new SLR and letting people test drive them one of them got t-boned by some old lady in a "normal" car.

Little old ladys car was totaled, cf door poped back and and the test drive resumed.
