Oil in throttle/intake and air box?

Hoping someone can give me a little insite on this problem I am having. The motor is a m20b23. One day it just didnt turn over. Found oil in the intake/throttle and in the air cleaner. Also once I did get it started it ran very rough and purged alot of dirty oil(not sure exactly from where) and tons of white smoke. This made no sense to me because the oil has been changed and is clear on the dipstick. There is no oil / coolant mix. Can the oil sump be clogged or blocked?

have the same problem, but not as severe, the filter has oil stains.

I think if your oil sump was to be blocked, the engine wouldn't run after a period of rod-knocking noises and lifter ticks and everything due to no oil in the motor. Maybe the engine's due for a piston ring job? Cuz obviously it's spitting oil back into your TB and intake.

check the o-rings on the drain tube between the block and the intake manifold. if there's a vacuum leak there, that can happen.

are you talking about that spring loaded tube that goes straight down from inbetween cylinder 3 & 4 intake manifold ports into the engine block?

Also known as the Spring Loaded Tube 'O Death.

Take off your intake manifold, and try to pull that thing out. You'll find out why.

it's not that hard, all you really need are some zip ties.

okay... i took off my head, and it just kinda flopped over. no springing of death action. does that mean that it's broken? the spring does look rusted to shits.

which explains the oil in my intake and filter.

would this also explain the excessive oil consumption ive been having? i just ripped my head off cuz i thought it was due to worn valve guides...

it could, my car was smoking like crazy and my air filter was soaked with oil. I drove probably 100 miles before I figured out my tube wasn't inserted properly into the hole and the lubrication was being sucked into the intake somehow.

it went away as soon as I snapped it into the correct place.

That tube doesn't connect to the intake in the least. You should be able to take that tube out, run the car and not see a drop of oil in your intake. Granted there will be oil all over the place under there.

What is probably happening is that your rings are dying or the bad tube caused the crank case to receive neutral pressure (not in vacuum like it should be) and frothed some oil into the vent tube that goes from the valve cover to the intake.

Basically, oily vapor is seeping into your intake via the crank case vent tube from the VC due to either bad sealing of the crank case or dying rings/valves.

                              Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!
