    Spec clutch?

Since I'm sticking with the Getrag 260/M20 setup behind the M52, I figured an upgraded clutch was a good idea.

The M52 will be OBD-I, S52 cams, 540i HFM and a TRM chip.

I was thinking my M20 lightened to around 12lbs or so, + a Stage 1 Spec clutch/pressure plate would be a nice setup.

    Any thoughts or other suggestions?

You should look into a stage 2 clutch from clutchnets

^Stage 1 Spec clutch is rated at 250lb ft of Torquezzzz. I figured that would be good.

Have you heard or had bad experiences with Spec, or just recommending Clutchnets from your personal experience?

I've heard mixed things about spec, although I don't have personal experience w/ them. I have used clutchnets and currently have one in my car. And for example, the IE 6 puck is the EXACT same as the clutchnets 6 puck that I bought.

I suggested the stage 2 because it should feel about the same as the stage 1 but be able to hold more power. The last thing you want it to do all this and still be slipping in the higher revs or hard launches.

a stock M20 clutch and the sachs 618pp will hold more torque (over 300 ft/lbs according to sachs) than a spec stage 1 and probably will be easier to daily drive. ;)

you don't really want to use a clutch that's on the edge of it's limits either, I don't think.

Oh really? That's good to know then, is that the stock PP? Don't have time to look up part no's at the moment.

no, it's the heavy duty/race pp. it will hold even more torque with a sintered pucked disk, but that's way overkill for an N/A street car.

i have had no issues with stock clutches in e30s, even at 220 hp BUT i can make em slip if you dump throttle and drop clutch.

though, miatas, ive seen 3 stockers get burned out. then again, we were putting 180-200 on whats normally 110 hp.
