So I'm going to Munich in two days...

And I'm going to see the BMW museum and factory. i was wondering if there is any junkyards nearby to the museum and what some rare parts I could pick up that I can fit in my suitcase and take home with me. I would go nuts taking tech 1 bumpers, chromies, etc. but I can't check anything home. only things that will fit in my suitcase.

any suggestions to where the closest yard is and what parts I should take home?

I bet that xLibelle said "ugh" for the same reasons that I rolled my eyes and yawned.

Everyone going to EU always has a thread asking people what crazy rare euro parts they want to be brought over. Once the person goes to EU, they either cannot get into a decent junk yard, they find a bunch or rusted to balls useless euro cars with little to no parts, they're unable to bring any decent parts over, or a clusterfuck trifecta of all three.

Your going to München, eh? Go there and enjoy it. See the sights, hear the sounds and leave the parts hunt for the next trip.

Good points. There's always ebay.de where loads of old OEM and tuner stuff shows up if you've got the hots for something in particular.

Just pay for the extra carry on Luggage, or two. Isn't it like $35/extra bag?

I'm currently here in Munich-- you'll really enjoy the BMW world and museum and factory tour. I have not found any junkyards around here, but honestly, looking at the cars on the street, there's no point-- all you'll find are rusted out 316s and 324tds. Hardly a good way to spend your time.

I would highly recommend the above tourist traps, but also go to Marienplatz and just walk around and see the Rathaus(government building), the cathedrals, and the Schlossen(castles and palaces). It's snowing now, so you'll get some epic good pictures. Getting a picture from the top of the Olympiaturm (Olympic tower) would be amazing with all the snow.

When do you arrive? PM me if you want to get a beer or something!

I was in Germany and Munich last summer. I too dreamed about striking gold in some Euro junkyard, but the realization of such a find hit me and I settled on enjoying Germany. Just go and experience all Munich has to offer. I only got to spend three days there and I still didn't get to see all that I wanted. Granted it was on the grand opening weekend of the new BMW Museum and I spent every day there. They brought out some special cars to greet visitors that weekend.
