the PID loop used to control the idle isn't a learning algorithm anyway. It uses an RPM target based on coolant temperature, the rest is done with real time math. There is no memory.
if you've already cleaned the ICV and it still acts up, yes that would be the next best thing to try. I had one that worked fine except there was a short inside and sometimes it wouldn't turn on when starting the car.. I had to give it a good wack with a screwdriver every once in a while. a little embarrasing when you have to pop your hood to start your car all the time.Comment

Where is the ecu temp sensor? i have a 1984 318i and i have the same problem, all of a sudden it felt like the throttle stuck and now when i start it , it goes up to 3k and stays there and it kinda misses at 3k too .. as it didnt before??? anything guysComment
