If I were you I would walk away from that deal. For what they are asking I've seen a 2003 330Ci equipped with the sports package and fewer miles for roughly the same price.....and that's a much better car than a E46 328.

Lucky for you the market is saturated with E46s so you can afford to be selective.

I'm not going to agree that you can build a bad-ass m3 for $15K. A good condition stock one, sure.

That dealer is smoking rock if he wants to sell it for 24k. My friends older brother is selling a 2001 330i 5 speed, every option available including harmon kardon and some nice ///M wheels for 26k with just over 60k miles. This car is mint too.

Jesus Christ, look at all the SHIT thrown on this SIMPLE thread.

The E46 328i is a fine car. I'd hold out for one with sport/premium. The cars are a lot of fun and fairly reliable. Some repairs will be coming up at the 80k interval, but that is to be expected.

Don't pay more then $18k for a 328i. End of story. If you see one you like, offer $18k and walk away. Someone will take it.

For $24,000 your better of buying a 330i.

Dealerships (espically BMW dealerships) will ass rape the shit out of you on used cars. Go with a private seller who babied the hell out of the car. You can also search ebay. I know a guy who claims he can get better deals on ebay then he can at the auction some times.

back in 95 we bought an mr2 from a dealer....

it was a 91 they were asking $12,000
                we paid 5000

then a year later we bought a 94 eclipse... asking 12000
we paid 6 plus a trade in (1,500)
