The e30 M3 was a nice car but the engine, even in 2.5 EVOIII form wasn't very fast. And, while it handled well even with trailing arm suspension, its steering was no where near as precise or involving as Porsche steering. I won't even mention braking.....

For the guy that thinks the E30 M3 is more fun than a 996TT, time to pull your head out. Of course, he sells brake upgrades which virtually every BMW needs.

And for the guy talking about 3 to 4 hundred hp S14s, go ahead and light the fuse. Besides a 996TT can be reliably upgraded to 600HP.

I'm not here to crap on E30s - I really like them and use one as a current DD. But let's be realistic - these are fun old cars. But at $30K there are better choices.
An E30 M3 Isnt a car that you can compare to a 996 TT. I really hate when people try to compare two cars that arent in the same leagues. The differences are too big. The cars arent from the same era. I think that if you want to compare a porsche with the E30 M3 it has to be the 944 turbo. in stock forms they can really go at it head to head. but i think people are missing the point. If a person is willing to spend 25k or more (i would) for a E30 M3 and not a newer car isnt because they couldnt buy something faster or with better handling. Its because they're really E30 fanatics and they going for the ultimate E30.

    ah none taken.

the porsche does win at the fact that BMW quit making cars like the e30m3 and instead started weighing them down and installing all sorts of "convienence features". porsche still makes carbon door, no power window, no radio/sat nav, no frills all out ass kickers.

personally, as ive said in other threads. id like to see a 125i. a stripped down 1 series with a 2.5 4cyl using some sort of vanos to squeeze 250+-hp. some sort of wide body modification. no radio, ac, and power anything. a all out track car from the factory. oh well, it wouldnt sell but a few thousand cars, but id like to see one

i guess its open to interpretation.
My good friend has an 88 with a fresh 2.5 and a well sorted suspension. I've driven it and I love the way that it drives. It's relatively fast and handles great. But I've also driven a lowly stock 911 and I thought that it was a better driving experience.

I'm not trying to start an e-fight though, I really do see what you meant.

ok so i was off, my bad. :D. STILL there are no where near as many left when compared to any of the cars mentioned thus far

Something else to consider about the E30 M3 is that it is one of the few attainable cars that are actually increasing in value. It is not unheard of to sell an E30 M3, after some years of use (without any modifications other than normal maintenance), for the same or more than what you paid for it .

What you do is go and take the 996 for a spin, and then go buy the M3. I drive new Corvettes, and ZO6's, they are fun to drive, but I wouldn't own one.

    Reign, you are a moron.

And the Porsche vs E30 M3 debate is totally up to the individual and the reasons for why they want to purchase said car

go back to lurking, you bother me.

Current price for a good Evo3 in Germany is arout $60k and it is not a pristine one...

JMarch had a worked E30 M3 but he's not a believer anymore and went the P car route. Sport Evo in Germany is about the equivalent of $60K US? wow. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised but damn.

You need to run the vin with carfax before negotiating price, something just doesn't add up with the information you have given. I would be very sceptical at this time...
