The E30 318is I just sold averaged 35 mpg as my daily driver. It did 31.7 mpg at an average speed of 95 mph. I was impressed. It had a 4.10.

My E36 M3 gets 30 mpg. I got 32 mpg one day when I drove it really conservatively to VIR and back to watch a Spec E30 race. I even turned down the offer to get on the skid pad for free cause I wanted to see what mpg the thing was capable of.

Havent checked the numbers on the S52 E30 yet. Should be killer though with the 2.93 rear end. I'll probably put some tall tires on a set of wheels just to get that extra edge.

If with my auto 325i I think the most I've gotten is about 320 miles on a single tank maybe a bit more. I can't think of the exact distance from New Orleans to Baytown, Tx. I do know that it's 370 from Nola to my Houston in Houston and I still had a 45 minute drive home from getting gas.

My car still has the 4.10 in it. Around town I average 30, but the motor is usually cold because its just to school and back. 60ish seems to be the most efficient in my car, getting about 45 mpg at a cruise. Its kinda strange that the car was rated 22 city and 27 highway...

thanks for the reply. I'll be driving my 91 318is soon. I've gotten it to the point where I feel it's safe to drive. I was wondering if it made any sense to get a 3.73, but I'll see how it performs first now.

pretty good mileage Mariano. sounds realistic. i get 15city driving pretty slow(for me) and 20highway slowish(under 80. i still state my opinion that people who claim to get 30+mpg are lying sacks of shit. that is all.

I think I get some where in the range of 20-30mpg. I would get more if I wasn't always gunning it everywhere. Well it is an m10 though...

My numbers have been cross checked many times cause it's hard for me to believe them, but they dont lie. But of course, that's 100 miles a day, with 97 of those on the highway. No lies though.

Is the the current setup that made this? What kind of dyno is that on? That really isn't horrible mileage. That is pretty much the exact setup I am planning on running, those numbers are quite impressive.

                      On Topic:

I don't get shit of mileage with my 87 e w/ 3.73 and chip. I'd estimate ~20. All mountain driving and the thing could definitely use a tune up and new O2 I think.

I pulled 35mpg with my '84 e, but I held the speed at a steady 65mph. Now I just go with traffic, up to 70 or more depending. I pulled 31mpg that way on a trip to Portland and back last summer. When I got to Portland I still had 1/3 tank of gas.

Most miles i have ever got on a tank is 305 but never have i ran it dry.I have been averaging around 22.5 mpg lately with regular driving which is shifting around 2200. I thought i was doing okay until i read this thread. i haven't broke 300 since going ETA to "i"
I really want to baby it and see what it can do but i always get bored with it and end up forgetting and flooring it. And since mine runs like shit i have to rev it hight to test it when i think i may have fixed it. Also my tank has a decent dent in it so its probaby only 14 gallons now.

Here commuting to work (6miles) and daily errands I only pull 26-27mpg. I can't manage a steady speed for long, and the car is still warming up during my commute.
