    1989 325i -- price check

I just checked this: http://slo.craigslist.org/cto/1054389232.html car out tonight after emailing with the owner over the course of a week or so. Here are the key points:

    it's got 215,000 miles
3 owners, not necessarily enthusiasts but they seemed to be sure about keeping the car in good condition and having it serviced regularly
    New tires
    New battery
Small dash crack that's been filled in with epoxy -- very inconspicuous
Cosmetically, the car is in fantastic condition -- easily the best I've seen. It was hard to get a good analytical look at the paint in the dark and with condensation, but as far as I can tell it's in very good condition. The interior is also spotless, with vinyl comfort seats.
The 5-speed shifts smoothly and the clutch feels good.
The engine ran very smoothly, but I noticed some higher pitched "whirring" or "tapping" at around 3k and up. Lifters?
She says the A/C needs a recharge according to her mechanic.

Is it worth the $3500 she's asking?

It seems like a pretty clean cali car that's probably been decently maintained. probably not quite worth the 3500 but then again you could always negotiate, definately not completely unreasonable or outrageous though. just my opinion though.

I would pay $2900, $3000 if she throws in a blowjob from her hot daughter.

If lucky, the E36 will die peacefully, in its natural habitat, and be given the prestigious honor of donating its parts to an E30

Any idea when the timing belt was last done?

If it has been kept up on maintenance and the body and paint are good, I think anything under $3000 would be a good deal.

The price seems a little high, but it does look clean. I saw that add a few days ago and was thinking about checking it out, but I'm not really in the best position to be buying another e30 right now. Hopefully this summer I will be though.

Do you remember the seller's name or what she looked like? I'm thinking that might be my English teachers car.

$2,500 to 3 thousand if you really need a car now. It is a clean looking car and they are getting hard to find. But $3,500 is pretty pricey unless you are really set on it, I wish there was a clean alpine when I was looking for my car.

I bet it was. Her name is Susan Marsala. She mentioned that she taught at Cuesta and had a student who was into BMWs. I even considered that that person might be you. Small world!

Yeah that's her. I've seen that car parked in the staff parking a few times and she talked about her e30 one day, so I assumed it was hers.

She must be talking about someone else in one of her classes though, because I really haven't said or written anything about BMW's.
