    Oil has vanished...

I changed my oil a couple months ago.
The other day my oil light came on in the cluster.
I killed it and pulled over.
    Pulled the dip stick.
    ..no that can't be right.
    wiped it off.
    dip.
    pull.
    dry.

Walked to the 7-11 on the corner and bought 2 quarts. Put them in and let it run for a min then turned it off. Checked under the car - not even a drip. Never had any smoke out the exhaust. Never an oil check light.

The most logical explanation I can think of is the oil converted itself into gasoline and entered the fuel rail by process of osmosis.

    Any other theories?

I figured if there was a giant leak it would have poured out when i ran it with those 2 quarts I just put in

its not uncommon for a motor with 150-200k on it to use a qt of oil now and then. if youre not checking your oil in 2 months id change that habit. if youre running it hard and at high rpm oil gets sucked into the intake. id say youre lucky if you didnt do any damage and just keep a close eye on it. check it each time you fill up until you get a handle on its use

oil pan gasket only leaks when the car is sitting on an incline or under hard g-forces. Or like bluntie says, could just be your motor

Look around where you park or drive. Oil cooler lines can back out while driving.. Trust me. Check those lines.

yea, the motor's got roughly 190k on it. But for it to eat full capacity in a couple months seems pretty excessive.

I'm going to try to get it to the garage so I can get it up on jacks this weekend. I'll check those lines.

Any indications (smoke/smell) that you're burning oil?

ALWAYS check under the hood of an old car periodically

mine goes through a quart every so often, and thats it just burning oil because its old. pair that with a leak, and you could eat oil pretty fast.
