Search in the interior subforum, this has been asked before.

They will work, but it may look dorky having seats that fold down in a four door.

Yes, you can put seats from a 2-door into a 4-door with no problem. The only difference is that the 2-door seats have little handles on the side to be able to flip them forward which is unnecessary on a 4-door.

On the other hand, putting 4-door seats into a 2-door will render your back seat useless since you can't flip the seats forward.

not to mention that taking 4-door seat out is a PITA, because seats don't slide forward for rear bolts and require a special 17mm socket to fit. 4-door seats suck.

Put in 2-door seats and swap back covers to make them look like they're 4-door sport seats :)

          is vs i

i found a mint 88 2 door 325is, only prob is that the front passenger side caught fire, only thing burnt is fender and a bit of hood. right now i have an 89 325i 4 door and was wondering what parts i should grab from the IS to put in my four door. what is the diff between the i and is . it has full black leather sport interior etc.

I have 4 door seats in my 2 door car unfortunately. They were e36 m3 sports (not vaders) and I got a screaming deal so I couldn't pass them up. I don't have people in the back seat anyways, it is reserved for two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that I need all that, but once you get into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew I'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon.

Why would they look dorky? Nobody has ever mentioned anything about the 2-door seats in my car in the last 7 years. I'm even using 2 door rear seats.

being able to fold them forward is handy as well, you can fit a lot more stuff in the back seat with the front seats out of the way.

Did you try raising the seat? The rear bolts frustrated me for a while as well until I did that.
