Race is currently underway, will be on SPEED at 2PM. Auberlen/Hand BMW has retired after taking 40 minutes to get started at the beginning of the race. Milner/Mueller are 3rd place in class, one lap back. The Audi and Peugeot battle has also been pretty good thus far.

Sebring 12 Hour is over - what a great race, particularly in the diesel powered prototypes. I watched about 8 of the 10 hours that was broadcast. I'll wait for a bit to add more so as to avoid the spoiler effect.

So wtf happened to the BMWs? There was barely any coverage of them. Just a few flashes here and there of them going slow as balls and then rolling backwards into the garage. According to the timesheet a C6 did start in GT2 but I never saw it... what happened to it?

The 90 BMW had electrical problems which caused it to start very late into the race and ended with a short run after an oil leak. The 92 BMW was doing very well, not slow at all. It worked its way up to 2nd in class and held it for quite a while before something broke after launching it from the pits.
Edit: The LGM C6 in GT2 is nothing new. It's a private entry and not a factory backed effort which we'll see later this season. I'm not entirely sure what happened to it, but the last time I saw it on the track it looked like it was rolling to a stop in the back straight.Last edited by E-Thirty; 03-22-2009, 11:46 AM.Originally posted by StereoInstaller1Do you feel like something is trying to penetrate your butthole?Comment

Yes - the word from the pits was the #90 car of Auberlin suffered a starting/electric issue while staged on the grid. This car was DOA before the field rolled off to do a warm-up lap and the rolling start - so it didn't see any action at all. The second car, #92, suffered some kind of catastrophic engine failure after several hours of running. Speed showed some onboard footage from a roof mounted camera. The car was at wide-open throttle on the back straight to T17 (last corner before the start/finish line) when you heard a few 'clunks' and then the motor went silent. Whatever failed, it failed fast and hard. A damn shame since it was doing pretty well for its debut race. But that's Sebring for ya......a real test on new and developed cars to see how good they are.The 90 BMW had electrical problems which caused it to start very late into the race and ended with a short run after an oil leak. Here's a video of the #92 car doing a lap from yesterday...
I'm sure at some point an onboard video will surface of said engine failure in the #92 car.

Gotcha, thanks. I was surprized by the C6 in the list because everyone was saying that Corvettes are coming later this year... almost thought it was a misprint, but then they started posting times for it.The 90 BMW had electrical problems which caused it to start very late into the race and ended with a short run after an oil leak. Pretty sad showing by both Acura and BMW, for all the hype. Audi I'm sure is loving every second of it. Especially since Acura made like a dozen commercials to run during the race, to tell people how much racing success indicates better cars... fail.

Those were the GT1 corvettes, this is basically their last race. The GT2 cars are allegedly coming later this year. Given GM's financial conditions, who knows. They did manage to fuck Gigliotti over pretty well.

That's what I mean - everyone was saying the GT2 corvettes are coming later this year, but I saw a C6 entry in GT2. But makes sense now that they're talking about the factory effort, not Gigliotti.

That's pretty ridiculous....The FIA only recognizes one builder for each FIA class. Callaway IS the GT3 approved builder that was approved by GM.
Riley was to be the FIA approved builder in GT2, and that is why I bought a Riley with my life savings.
I was the one in the article when the Belgium buyers were in Riley's conference room with their check book out ready to buy my car and another new car from Riley.
The GM Press release stating that "only Pratt would be the approved FIA homologated Corvette in GT2", came out while we were in the meeting and the Belgium guys put their check book away and walked.
And this year for LeMans, we were an inch away from an official acceptance then the ACO guys left Charlotte and went to see GM's new GT2 car, where they learned of the Riley lawsuit, and our entry was totally scrapped.
Keep in mind that the only reason I bought a RIley car was because GM's Wesoloski told me that the Riley car would be the official GT2 builder, then about 100 billion in losses later, Corvette racing had to drop to GT2, and they threw Riley, LG Motorsports and me under the bus. GM stopped Michelin from selling me tires this year because "GM wanted to keep total control of the GT2 tire development, without the LG car involved." So Michelin pulled back and will not sell us tires.
GM also said that they can not effectively lobby for "performance Waivers" with the ACO if the LG car is doing well, so they kept us off Michelins, and would rather that we just go away.
