Mostly craftsmen, wil alot of extra no-name stuff. For years and years, my mom's best gift idea for my dad were tools sets. Gets the job done and they are free.

                Round Two:

                Precision tools.

I love my hand me down Starretts.

My grandfather recently gave me these when I visited him in his old age home. I hate seeing him that way, Besides that.

They have always been a great pieces of measuring tools. Made at one time in Athol Mass.

It's mostly Mitutuyo stuff for me: digital 6, 12, 36" calipers, 0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7" mike set (just bought this one), 0.001-4" gage block set, and the one that really defines precision around here:

I use Kennedy toolboxes, and whatever else is at the auctions...

being a mechanic, craftsmen tools just don't do it for me. they are fine for the hobbiest, just not as comfortable to use 8 hrs straight. i have mostly mac, with some s-k and snap-on. there's certain tools from each that seem better then the others. snap-on is a bit overpriced though compared to mac which hold up just as well and is just as comfortable. honstlt if you don't have the convenience of the truck coming every week, then none are really worth it. there's always a sears or homo depot around, and both sell decent tools.

For those who don't know S-K and Facom are one merged corp like Mercedes owns Freightliner. But the use the Existing name plate in the country, for marketing purposes.
