Craftsmen. I have a few Hazet tools too, they are top notch.

I did pick up a 10 piece metric open end wrench set at Home Depot (Husky) for $6 though. Normally $29 so I couldn't pass up the deal.

Ahh yeah I picked up a set of inverse torx sockets for my tranny for like $7 from Harbor freight... they are actually pretty nice. I bought a 6" gear puller too, it helped removed my subframe bushings.

stanley makes proto, and either MAC or MATCO which are very very nice tools....
with my school i get discounts with most of the major tool companies....
            50% off the following:
            MAC
            SNAP-ON
            bluepoint
            Blackhawk
            Cornwell
            S-K
            some FACOM
            Proto
            CRAFTSMAN

and i get 62% off of MATCO!!!!

i think before i leave the school i am going to get like $15k of matco tools

i just bought an extra set of combination wrenches from schucks today (my buddy had to get a new belt for his GLi) and there was a lifetime waranty 24 piece set of wrenches that cost me $16 after tax......

those wreches will be for customizing!!!!!

            its a pretty sweet deal

mac and snap-on are pretty comparable. when i used to be a gas monkey those were the only brands in the shop.
I retired my E30 for now...

My school has the same thing. I just ordered $1200 in tools Tuesday night from Matco. The only shitty thing is that Snap-on only discounts certain sets for us. I'm getting some combination wrenches and torque wrenches from them.
I really haven't had good luck with craftsmen stuff, the wrenches don't fit nuts and bolts well and the ratchets break all the time. But maybe thats just me...

most of what I have is craftsman. thank god for the warranty, because I break their shit all the time. in one day I broke 3 extensions in half and cracked two sockets. I also trashed a set of easy outs andI returned them (they barely worked anyway). but, they get the job done and are fairly cheap, and when they break I can just walk into sears and get new ones.

Craftsman for the bulk wrenches and sockets

Stanley cheap screwdrivers for grinding down into specialty tools, hehe

So everybody has a mix and match. Ok I need to get back into buying from the vendor again because I need some stuff.

I found out today that I can buy Snap-On/Blue point (one in the same) for 50% off on base when the truck comes once a week. New roll away to replace my 1963 snap on unit with a mega chest?

                            Wal-mart tools rock.

I've got a toolbox with the biggest set they make in it. They's my traveling tools (for junkyard fun, etc.).

That's 90% of my tools.

My dad isn't a car guy, he drives a buick......
He has some shit for the house, like a hammer......

I buy tools when I need them......or improvise.

The Stanley unit is great for basic, it was cheap and they offered a good discount when the first came out.

Rob, that's an inside discussion about rule of thumb.
