    BMP front strut brace

I bought this bar brand new from BMP three years ago. It has been used for a short time on my old 325i, and then my brother's 318is.
This bar was not on a car involved in an accident that would cause the break.

I guess this shows how how beneficial using a good strut bar is. If the strut towers stress enough to break this bar, I don't want to even imagine how much the strut towers flex without a strut bar.

to think my RD strut bar took a 40mph on 35mph lick and saved my foot. Minimal unbend, and it's back on my new car, lol.

Wow, glad I bought the Mason design one. Not that I really had a choice with the M42.

yep, would have seen that one coming. Too little material for the amount of heat.

What does the backside of the crack look like? From this vantage point, it looks like a horrible design gone wrong.

                  ...wait...

Is that a crack on the arm joint as well??

i have one also. luckily it came with the car. i have rewelded it once after it cracked and spread on both sides at the same point and it is doing it again. i am going to try to back fill the area behind it this next time and start looking at a new non BMP one or make my own mason-ish copy out of chro moly.

                    yea they suck.

if it is cracked, just back fill it when you re weld it.

according to IEs site their 325 bar will not work on 318s. i dont personally know what the difference is but maybe they know something we dont and you proved it? did it install easy on both cars?
