according to IEs site their 325 bar will not work on 318s. i dont personally know what the difference is but maybe they know something we dont and you proved it? did it install easy on both cars?

usually most 325i bars won't clear over the m42 from the 318is..

Exactly the same thing happened to mine. Piece of shit! I don't know if I should go with a Mason or Sparco?

The M42, and the S14 in the M3, both have very tall intake manifolds, partially to clear the wider twincam heads. That leaves very very little room for a brace.

Over a year later, I'm still very content with my Sparco. I bought it used too!

it's probably because on bar will clear one engine but not the other

Yes the Sparco bar won't clear the S14, M10 or M42.

Although I have seen them beat in there to kind of fit.
