I had a tooth rot or somthing as such when i was 16 on christmas holiday. No dentists around and i couldnt drink water or eat anything like yogurt because i was so badly inflamed finally found one dentist and had the tooth removed. Now i have a gap and the wisdom tooth is growing in to fill it. I am going to move the teeth forward and have the wisdom tooth take the missing tooths place in a way i guess. It was one horrid christmas that i will never forget. for a good week i was pretty much on a death bed cuz of the little fucker.
I have the worst luck with teeth. I had braces on for 1 year and a 3 days before thanksgiving i had them removed and on Thankgiving i was in a room without the lights on and snagged a cord to a stereo boombox to say the least it feell on my face. didnt really help my teeth very much. What is with me and holidays and teeth.
sort like what Ryan had done but not quite i just thought i would share as its on the subject of teeth.

I had one a couple months ago.. one of my fillings had fallen out, so the bacteria got inside the tooth.. it wasn't too bad, I had part of it done the day before the 4th of july (last minute appointment, dr. stayed late for me), and finished up a month later. the whole thing probably took an hour. and thankfully, my dental insurance paid for most of it (about $750).
I had about 6 shots of novacaine, couldn't feel a damn thing.. it was a little sore later but nothing compared to what it felt like before I went to the dentist :)

Yea, your expierence sounds a bit like mine nando, but the difference here was that the doc wanted to do it in 2 visits, but I reminded him it was a 450 mile trip ONE WAY to come see him, so I needed it all done in a day. It took just about 2 hours start to finish and he said it was easy since it hadn't gotten infected yet.
I am feeling pretty good today. I only took one 5/500 vicodin last night and that was enough to hold me over, I was stil numb when I went to bed at 2am!
Off to the junk yard for some E28 parts... then onto detailing my M3 for SIg Fest.
Have a good saturday guys!'88 M3.2 S54 Lachssilber/Black

You guys think it is tough, the root canal, well I had mine with no novacaine!!! In was at the dentist and they administered it to me, but then all of a sudden something had happened to an old man, he lost his teeth I think, LOL. So I sat in the chair for about 30-45 minutes until they all came back. Let me just tell you this, it was the worst pain I have ever felt, I sat in the chair, hands clamped to the arms, sweat dripping off my whole body, and mind you, I hate just going for a cleaning. You guys should be happy you got the needle and were able to use it, I can still feel the drilling and ripping of my nerve right now, mother f'er!

perkaset, oxycodein, lortab, morphein > vicoden
vicoden is small beans compaird to those.

I've had 2 root canals, on the same tooth. I broke a tooth at age 11, and when I was 16 I had a normal root canal. They drilled in from behind and I didn't feel any pain at all, just my head vibrating from the drill. And it smelled kinda funky too. Then when I was 18 (last summer) I had a surgical root canal where they cut open the front of my gums to saw off what was left of the root and remove an absess (sp?) from the same tooth as before. Didn't feel anything that time either. Both times I had prescriptions for percocet and all was good. Going to a George Clinton concert less than 24hrs after the surgical root canal helped too, as there were more "pain killers" to be had.
Edit: for the record, on the first root canal I had local pain killers. First they rubbed on that pink gelly novacaine stuff, so that I wouldn't even feel the needles they used to inject half my face with heavier pain killers. Face was numb for 8 hours.
On the surgical root canal, I was completely knocked out for about an hour. Mmmm nitrous oxide. Very groggy for the rest of the day.
I guess I have bad luck with teeth too. All this work was done on one tooth, a front one. I flipped over the handle bars of a bike when I was younger, and the tooth was the first thing was to hit the ground. I never found the huge chunk that broke off. This was 3 days before I had to start at a new school, and luckily the day before I started school I had a temporary cap put on. 4 years later, half of the cap broke off while I was eating. I also had my wisdom teeth out during my spring break this past year. I have a few fillings, one of which was done without any pain killers. That sucked. The dentist didn't even do it right. I had to go back and get it drilled down before it hurt so much I couldn't chew on one whole half of my mouth. Ugh. I hate going to the dentist.

As you can tell I havent. Shit I havent had a cavity in like 9 years.
It's not that bad, really, hardly worse than filling a cavity. Once they drill into your tooth and kill the nerve, no more pain!
