Should I get another car or do something to my E30?
If you plan to be doing a lot of driving and you anticipate toting clients around with you as part of this gig, I would not exercise the option of fixing up your E30 for this role. You're going to want something that offers the following:
reliability on par with a wood burning stove
good passenger room front and rear
4 door practicality
a decent sized 'boot'
good fuel economy
You mentioned the Suby for $12.5K - what is your reason for this? A desire for an 'everything' car (practical, utilitarian, AWD, etc.)? If you really don't need all those attributes then look into something like a Honda Accord or Toyota Camary that's at least 5 years old. Plenty to choose from out there in every imaginable state of condition and mileage. Do your homework when kicking tires and I bet you can find a real good one for <$10K and it would be perfect for what you need.
Save some money each month from this job to fund your E30 project at a later date.
Just my $.02

take a closer look at a 5speed manual e34, like a 90's 535i. Steer clear of the autotragics unless a strict maintanence schedule and records document good care by the PO's.
why? because they are comfy and pretty reliable, not to mention very torquey. seats 4.5 adults/clients quite nicely, too.
