Question. Small case 4.10 lsd fits on 325 is?

    Question. Small case 4.10 lsd fits on 325 is?

    I'm looking at buying a 4.10 small case lsd diff. Would it fit on my 325 is? Is it a straight swap or do i need to change the flanges and the rear diff cover?
    How much do they usually go for?

    It'll fit, but it won't last long. I had the same idea on my last e30 and sheared the input shaft to the diff.

      change the flanges, ive been using a 4.10 small case on my M50 cab for about 2 years. And it turns 17''s over daily.

        I have a stock m20 with a 93 mark d chip. You still think it will tear small diff?
        By changing the flanges, you mean swap my existing 325 flanges into the 4.10 diff?

          no, you need the 318 flanges to reach the 325 axels

            The guy sells it locally for $200 CDN. So you you think overall i should stay away from the small case diff?

                  It will fit but it really is not the best choice for an M20 powered car.

                    maybe this is a on a 5 lug car? on a normal e30 you they are both plug and play

                      Lol, if you can go from small case to medium case with no problem then why would it be a problem to go from medium to small?

                            axle shafts have a slip joint that allows enough play to fit either diff

                              Hm. I didn't realize there's THAT much play in the axles. Why would BMW offer two different diff output flange widths if it didn't make a difference?
