      So let me get this straight, the getrag 260 from an E30 sits crooked but works better than the E36 unit?

        the alignment problem is easily fixed AFAIK.

        Yes, the 260 shifts better. Is lighter. Is cheaper to buy. Is cheaper to rebuild. Is capable of handling lots of power.

          I was answering both questions. You have to sit the 260 at an angle for the bellhousing to bolt up and it is a much better tranny IMHO. The details for why it is better were already discussed previously in this thread.

            Nice work, Stu, that thing looks mental. I recently drove a 98 ti with a built S52 putting out 233 at the wheels. I think the power to weight of that car would be similar to yours. Alot of wheelspin in second and I had trouble keeping it in a straight line. How do you find the handling of your car with the I6? It's a swap I'm thinking of doing.
