My new soon to be race car...

Well, with the demise of my 450HP WRX (It was smashed into by an old lady pulling out of a gas station while at the SCCA National Tour in Peru. If any of you were there, I know Alex Shchipkov was there it was the one sitting in paddock fuxored) I decided to pick somethign up to be a 100% dedicated AutoX and sparingly road race car. With the insurance money from the WRX and money from selling and parting her out I was able to buy a new truck and have enough to start looking for an E30, which is a true old school love of mine, always has been. And I figured it would be a good car to race in DSP for a year, then engine swap and F/I and move back up to Street Modified to see what can be done there, if anything, in a E30 Chassis.

After some looking, I was able to find a 2-door 1987 325is in BFE Ohio, and the guy was only asking $1200 for it. It ran great, no engine trouble and tranny shifted ver smooth. Perfect. Body was pretty sad shape, but i didnt care about that. This is what it looked like when I picked her up about 4 weeks ago.

Brought her home, started sanding, stripping, then tack welding sheet metal, laying fiberglass, bondo and primer. Then I decided to go ahead and paint it myself (ive painted my old muscle cars before, same concept, just much less paint). I went with an acrylic enamel for ease, durability, and this isn't going to be a show car anyway. Then I plopped the Corbeau in there, cut the rusting, falling off stock exhaust off, welded some striaight pipes back and was ready to go.

Here it is some pics I took sunday at a local car meet a the park down the street from my home. If you dont like the color, too bad. I do. It stands out and is definately different. That and I really like it on the Jaeger E30.

Next up is the DSP Prep. I have all the stuff for the M30 AFM Swap, and a set of 19# injectors and an adjustable FPR going on this weekend. Then a UNIChip and custom tune at a shop here in town will take care of most the "power" I can do in a SP class.

I got a friend that works for Koni making me up a set of D/A shocks for use with Ground Controls and GC Camber Plates and all the other suspension goodies. 15x8" Kosei K1s with Hoosiers (would be V710s and still might be if they ever make some decent sizes) going on and itll be ready to race.

damn, thats almost a novel. Enjoy.

I really like that car, suprisingly enough. I can't wait to see the finished product.

The only thing I don't dig is the painted B-pillar, but I can live with it. ;)
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

Yeah I know, i tried to avoid that but the paint oringal finish was really fubbared on it. Now that I look at it, I think I am going to take it back down on the B Pillars and shoot it with some black paint.

Not sure about the Side Skirts, the car came with them, and the lip spoiler on the trunk. They are both (skirts and spoiler) badged BBS but I couldnt find any info online about BBS Aero kits so I am kinda lost on that.

oh, I also plan on pulling the bumpers, painting them all black, and then doing the bumper tuck so they dont stick out so far.
