Well The Grassroots 2009 Challenge is over and our car is now sitting in the garage as we start mulling over ideas for next year. This year we did better then expected as our car placed 2nd in the autocross (fastest production car) which was .005 seconds slower that a custom built locost. Our concourse score was not what were were hoping for with a 14th place finish but we think we have an idea in where we can improve. Our Drag setup is also another area in where we can see an improvement for next year as our time was a 13.8 which gave us an 11th place finish in the drags. with those scores calculated we ended up in 3rd place overall out of 55 cars. Not bad if you ask me. To all the E30 fans that I met out at the challenge it was nice meeting you all.
One last thing I would also like to thank all the people who took the time off of work and drove up to help Carlos and I get the car prepped for the multiple events. This year went so much smoother changing from event to even and it is only because of their hard work.
Now time for some pictures.
We could not find a trailer to tow our car up there so we flat towed it. This is a pic taken by the GRM staff as the cruised by us on the turnpike

This is where we were changing our wheels/tires, and suspension and taking it out of flat tow mode and getting it ready for the auto-x
This is our car in auto-x mode. behind the wheel was expert driver Allan Mc Crispin.

here are a few pictures of Allan taking it out on the course
this is what beat us out in the auto-x but .005 seconds

here is a video that was taken by another r3v member
here is our car after we rolled passed the judges at the concourse portion of the competition

and our drag setup

and some in car video during the drag event

I saw these guys at the autocross today. The car was screaming fast! It was handling on rails too. It looks and sounds really badass. They finished 2nd in the autocross portion of the competition. By the looks of it, they should do very well in the drags too.
