good idea bad executiuon. I think if you used some round bar and bent it then welded it to the supports that bolt to the frame. Keep the work up

        Do you think or know?

A round bar would be more likely to flex/ bend. it would have to be alot heavier if i used a round bar.

It's great that you want to do your own thing, and I'm sure it was a fun project.

Strut bars don't make street cars "handle better" though. At least none of my street cars. And not my track car either. YMMV, I suppose...

are you kidding me? are you actually trying to justify your use of square vs round (which is an almost negligible difference in this application) when you have the worst and dinkiest looking mounts at the strut tower i have ever seen?

those mounts are so poorly designed i wouldnt be suprised if they end up causing cracks on your strut tower.

IF you ever (and that's a big fucking if) put enough force through those shock towers to ever need that thing in the first place it would snap at the welds. The point of having a bent bar is as much about transferring force as much as it is about clearance. And saying it would be heavier to use round tubing is just ignorant, have you ever seen a Sparco bar? They are widely known to be one of the best and most effective designs on our cars (Short of the Zen/Mason bar which I won't bring up because I don't want a shitfest to break out) and it uses round tubing, is bent and is probably about half the weight of your little setup.

That's the thing, does anyone posting in this thread even know why you want to control strut tower movement? Does anyone understand which direction the forces are pulling and why you do/don't want that happening? I think someone said they felt a difference driving on the street with a strut bar, I just have to laugh at that. You can feel the strut tower not moving a few millimeters and effecting camber/caster by hundredths of a degree?

I love how these are being installed on cars with stock CABs and upper strut bearings too...

Some days my PM box brings me such joy...

I like thought provoking conversations and I like to see the results of people applying their ingenuity and time.

Stress braces do make a difference ( http://www.evolutionzen.com/chassis-compliance.html ) even on a street car If you can't tell the difference... Well then I guess you can't tell. But even if only to reduce failures from fatigue strut bars do make a difference.

Now a poorly designed stress bar can make a difference as well, transmitting loads to areas that can't handle it, even inducing fatigue failures.

I commend you for doing something other than just yapping.
