Another Norwegian car. This is my E30 trackcar

    Hello everybody

Fist of all: Ignore all misspellings, I know my english isen't the best :)

I've been watching you cars for a while and think there is alot of nice cars in here. So today I desired to register and tell you about my E30 too.

I bought this car 3 years ago as a pretty bad eksample. The car did not pass the inspection and lost it's licenceplates so i got i pretty cheap. The "lovely" 1.6l M40 engine was leaking oil and wather and the brakes where stuck. Nice car :) The positive things where no sunroof and the low price. It supposed to be a quick bulild just to get it on the track for the 07 season but it got out of hand of course :)

    Some pictures:

Nice weather to fix the car in:)

Some fun on the track in 07 :D

The 08 season was just problems because of a failure in the engine wireingharness. This is on the way to the first trackday i 08, was preparing it for paint at the time. My mates were embarrassed when we drove through Oslo with this ride :)

Painted it my self during the summer and drove it to Germany and the Nürburgring on a holyday-trip i august. Nice trip but the engine went into limp-home-mode at the end of the week.

That was some history, now it's time to show some pictures of the car from this Saturday. Everything i working great now and is't really fun to drive.

    Some specs:
    Euro S50B30 engine og gearbox.
E28 3,15 LSD (same gearing as the Euro E36 M3, but could be a bit shorter).
FK Königsport suspension-kit but with E28 Bilstein Sprint(Sport i US?) in the rear.
E36 Compact rear axel with diskbrakes and 5-lug.
5-lug in the front with e30 strut, e36 bearing, e36 calipper and e30 M3 disk.
    E34 M5 turbine wheels with 205/40-17" tires.
The interior i bone stock, witch people are shaking their heads about:rofl:

That's whats it's like now. Hope you like it :)

    Greetings Trond

Thank you very much for the positive response guys. That’s great after all the hours in the garage :D

Alpina: I think I saw your car the on Nürburgring the first weekend in May. Some of my friends and I went down to look at Tourenwagen Revival and VLN. Great place! Makes me want to live in Adenau!

Now over to the questions :)

e30guydownunder: I got a steel pipe milled down (do you understand what I mean about that?) to fit between the e36 bearing and the E30 king pin. I can take a picture some day. The problem is that the e36 disk is too deep and will touch the ball joint. The E30 M3 disk has much less offset and clears fine. Had to use callipers from the e36 with ventilated disk mounted on adapters I made. The problem her is that it is made for 22mm thick disk and the M3 disk is 25mm. Had to grind a bit to make it fit. Was told that e36 bearing, disk and calliper were pretty much bolt-on but that is not true at all! Used some time to get this together

Tree18is: Haha.. it's my father’s 1988 Nissan Patrol Super Roof whit a 3,3l turbo diesel. A bit lazy up the hills but we are planning on raising the boost a bit. It has gone about 370.000miles now and my fathers friends are referring to it as the Ghost Car :)

etta325: Thank you. I made a "paint box" behind the barn and used paint made for trucks that didn’t need clear coat on top. I took some pictures of i too :)

You love spending time sideways don't you lol..... Really cool that you painted it... I've been debating painting mine, but I don't have a realistic grasp on cost and time since I've never done it.... I'd like to do my engine bay and door jams, everything, only cause I wanna change the color of the car

PM me for detailing services in the Longmont / Boulder Area in Colorado!

Bishop: Trying to go as much sideways as I possible can i really fun. This was the first time I tried to go sideways on the Våler track. The turns are longer and needs more speed to hold it sideways than on Rudskogen were I drive mostly. Should have a bit more power, or quiet a lot more so I could use 4th gear :)
If you descide to paint your car I think it's the right decision to paint the enginebay and all like you say. I painted the door jams, but not the enginebay and trunk. I used ca 4 liters (1 gallon?) of paint because the first layer where bad. The paint and thinner mixture was wrong so the paint were too thick and the car looked like shit! The secound time was better, but it's absolutely not a showcar. If I did the prep work myself and had it painted by a proffessional it would probably been cheaper, so you need to consider if you really want to paint it yourself :)

Alpina: It looked familiar :) A friend of mine have the same engine in his E30 so we had to look it over when you left it with the hood open. Quiet an engine to put in a cab :)
Is the yellow color the original color of you Bi-Turbo? Cool cars!
I actually ordred room at the Hotel an Der Nordschleife yesterday for the Oldtimer GrandPrix weekend. Never been to that event before and I'm really looking forward to see and hear the old racecars I'm too young to have expirienced before. We'll be traveling with class in my mates e28 M535i

                              Greetings
