    DD/Project car(2002 inside)

Hey guys, I'm still fairly new to the forum and just thought I'd post up some pics of my current work in progress.

A little backstory: It's a 1974 2002tii that I acquired from a guy here in Mount Dora for $1600. The car had apparently been owned by an elderly gentleman in Mississippi, then he passed away and one of his relatives put the car in storage. That was sometime in the early 90's. Then a little over a year ago this guy here in Mount Dora(who happens to own a mint hellrot 850csi) purchased it with the intention to restore it for his wife. He never had the time to do so and put the car of for sale. Then a little less than a year ago I purhased the car from him. The car didn't run when I bought it, mostly just from having sat for such a long time. Thankfully though, the car was stored indoors and so the paint is in very nice shape for its age, as is the interior, no cracks at all in the dash. So I did a big refresh of the car to get it on the road. The engine appears to have been rebuilt. I have mostly new suspension under it. Bilstein sports, IE sport springs, new bushings all around, new ball joints, yadda yadda. The interior, which I regrettably don't have pics of at the moment, is rather dismantled right now, with all the carpet out, rear seat has no padding due to the old deteriorated hoarse hair padding, no A/C, no radio, etc. I've put in a set of E21 Recaros and plan on doing a major overhual of the interior this summer. Well then, enough of my ramblings, on to pics.

Wow, is that a Granatrot as well?

They only imported 300 in that color from '74-'76, this makes two on r3v.

Yes, it is Granatrot-Metallic. The paint is in overall good condition for it's age, but has it's fair share of nicks and scratches, and it's been repainted at some point, though Granatrot is the original color. It was in a light accident long before I got it in the right front, that fender was replaced, but the main problem with that it that the frame rail it just slight off right there, and so the bumper shock doesnt fit in properly, and so the right side of the bumper is slightly lower than the left. That, and when it was repainted, the front lip down below the bumper looks like it wasn't prepped properly and the paint is getting kinda flakey down there. But there is almost zero rust on the car, and was there is is very minoer, no shock tower or pedal box rust.

nice! I love 2002's. I say take your bumpers off completely. Some 2002's look really good with no bumpers. Either take them off or get euro bumpers but preferably euro bumpers. If you don't want to spend a lot take the us bumpers off

Yeah, I'll try and get some more pics up soon, probably put up a few interior shots so you guys can see how stripped it is. I've had at least three people look at my interior and then ask if I drift my car -_- But any ideas you guys have for the car let me know, cause I'm definitely gonna be throwing some money at it this summer. I've been debating for a while now whether to do a repaint and body work. It would looks amazing, but, $$$.. Oh well, we shall see.

Does the nose have a snorkel? Are you sure it's a real tii?

very nice car man! i am so jealous. what are you plans. it's going to be a dd so i guess your going for comfort over performance. you should definitely get some nice wheels for it. it will brighten up the whole car. euro bumpers look beautiful, and some clear side markers and indicators would clean the car up a lot. you can get clear euro turn indicators. the flat ones that are flush with the side of the car and don't stick out like the ones you have. i have a whole lot of links and info on parts vendors from when i had my '02. if you need any help tracking down any parts let me know.
lets see some engine bay shots!

Thanks for the complements guys. As for it being a real tii, I'm thinking it might not e, as the engine is not original, but when I got the car, everything on the car is tii spec, even down to the 19mm rear wheel cylinders, as opposed to 17mm on non-tii 2002s. My main plans for right now are to get the interior redone, as there isn't much of an interior right now, to make it more comfortable to drive. The car is already a last to drive in anger, but once I'm through with the interior I'm thinking of new headers and exhaust, sway bars, and maybe lowering it a bit more. It has a 1.25" drop right now, thinking of going to 1.50". I have a set of very nice 5 spoke Revolutions sitting ack home at the shop, I cant remember the model atm, one they dont make any more. 14x7 and they weigh aout 12ls a piece. offset isn't ideal though so i would have to run spacers to get them away from the struts, and then probably some combination of camber and either fender rolling or just go turbo flares to avoid tire rubbing.

not bad, but those rims look kind bulky to me. would not be my first choice. where are you going to get your interior done?

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the rims or not. I'm not sure aout the interior. My uncle knows a guy that does good work in the orlando area, Mike something. I'm going to have all new window seals put in, cause the old ones are all dried up, new headliner(trying to decide between the original white, or going black), getting the rear seat redone with new padding and such, new rear shelf panel. I'll dynamat the floor and install carpet myself. I found this site a little while ago, the carpet set looks pretty pretty good, the 15 piece kits are nicer and easier to install then the molded units.

nice find on the carpet! i spent a long time looking for a good place to get carpet for my '02 and then fell into the clutches of a certain canadian from whom i ordered the 15 piece carpet set from along with a trunk kit and a rear seat delete kit. only the 15 piece kit came. i never saw any of the other stuff i ordered and never got my money back from that ass. he owned a shop called seams perfect carpet. ripped a lot of people off.

i was wondering, does 2002tii have power steering? I'm looking to pick up one next month as well but I've heard conflicting faqs about the 2002.
