No, all 2002s have manual steering. More effort needed to turn the wheel, especially at low speeds, but I love the feel of manual steering, you feel very connected with the road, you can really feel whats going on.

It's also not rack and pinion steering - it's worm and roller. It's not really as bad as one might think. For instance, the steering effort is still much less than an e30 with no power steering belt.

      To the OP,

A sure fire way to tell if your car is a tii is to run the vin. Secondarily, there should not be a snorkel on the core support. This only came on carb'd models. Since your car has been wrecked though it may have a second hand nose. Does your dashboard have a clock? I also vote no way on the wheels. 2002s are definately suited for something more vintage. I hate modern looking wheels on 02s.

I'm going to have all new window seals put in, cause the old ones are all dried up, new headliner(trying to decide between the original white, or going black), getting the rear seat redone with new padding and such, new rear shelf panel. I'll dynamat the floor and install carpet myself. I found this site a little while ago, the carpet set looks pretty pretty good, the 15 piece kits are nicer and easier to install then the molded units.

Check out Esty's kit that she sells over on the FAQ. It's cheaper, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Well here are a few more pictures, some of the interior and underhood. Not great pics, but you know, gets the job done. Another interesting fact about my car. Since the car still has a Mississippi title when I went to register the car, I had to have an officer come out and run a VIN verification on the vehicle. After chatting with me about the car for about ten minutes he went back to his cruiser, ran the numbers, and when he came back, he told me that the car had not been registered for the road since 1977. 0.o

always liked E21 recaros on a 02. Looks great. cant wait to see more of it. How bout some mesh wheels for it basket weaves or some euro weaves. It'll look even better.

It's been converted. Oh well. Originality isn't a big deal to me on this car anyway. I was actually thinking of swapping in an M42 or something like that and having real electronic fuel injection so I could actually tune the thing lol.

I have a set of is 14" weaves, but I don't really like the way they look on a Granatrot 2002. On a black 02, yes.

Nice Nardi wheel. BTW that's a BEHR AC console that's been stripped down. Has the car been repainted all over? The overspray in the engine bay is a bummer.

Yeah, I know aout the A/C, I pulled that out my self, as most of it was junk. That's one of the many things on my to-do list over the summer. I'm gonna get a compressor mount off an old rusting away Bavaria we have that should fit and then put a rotary compressor on it. Yeah, I think the whole car was repainted, not sure why but whatever. And yes, the engine bay makes me very sad. I would love to get the car repainted and spray the bay body color, but still debating spending that much money.

don't do an m42. not worth the time and money for the power you are going to get. go s14 or m20.

s14 = money and you have to cut the core support for an m20. As always, I vote built or turbo m10 but m42s are just right for 2002s.

Do you mean that 2002 still requires less effort than a e30 THAT has no powering steering? or do you just mean it require less effort than e30 in general?

yeah i guess s14 are $, and there is cutting involved for the m20, but i still dont think that an m42 is worth the work and $.
                            m10 megasquirt and turbo?

He is saying that a 2002 requires more effort to steer than an e30 with power steering, of course. But it's not an obscene amount of force required to turn the wheel, like if the power steering on an e30 failed. Make sense that way?

Just rebuild the Tii motor, or find a nice M10 & toss some DCOEs on it. Keep the shit period correct.
