A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

ok i cheated a little.. not one pic per say but i think it gets the point across that its not stock even if it looks like it on the outside :p

its still a major WIP and things are changing on nearly a daily basis. more cleaning and painting under hood and under car atm. 15 inch weaves and tech 1 spoiler coming soon, also thinking about blacking out kidneys, tails and signals and needs a drop. the under hood pic is already out of date, all been VHT painted in silver with raised parts sanded back to bare metal, thinking of changing the colours around again also more mods under the hood so im holding off on new pics lol

    Currently E30-less

car would be in a junkyard right now if i hadnt bought it. very clean shell and good history when i got it but i have had to put in an assload of work to get it somewhat reliable. some of the pics arent that great because i havent had the chance to get better ones yet because im always fixing it lol.. ran fine when i test drove it and literally the next morning after buying things started breaking/failing left right and centre.

there is so much more work involved than whats in the pics. ill bang off a few off the top of my head but know this is not all nor all that will be done in future.

so in no real particular order we have:

new waterpump (old failed the day after i bought it)
12 new rocker arms (2 of the old ones broke just after fitting the new wpump)
eccentric lobes adjusted to 0.30mm with engine stone cold (might go back in and set them to 0.25mm)
replacement cam (cause of said broken rockers)
                      new timing belt and tensioner
                      new alternator/wpump belt
new plug leads with new sensor for wire 6
                      new NGK copper core plugs
new intake manifold gasket (big vac leak on a couple cyls right after fixing wpump/rockers/cam)
converted to 5 speed manual (auto died about 2 weeks after getting car on the road again)
                      new centre support bearing
rear half of original auto prop mated to front of manual prop
                      new flex disc
                      new AP clutch kit
                      new spigot/pilot bearing
new clutch master and slave cyls
                      new master to slave hardpipe
                      new hardpipe to slave hose
new gearstick support arm (cut and alloy welded to extend it by 1 inch)
all bushes/joints replaced with new in the linkage setup
                      new Z3 M coupe gearstick
                      UUC Motorwerks RK2 weighted knob
toyota avensis gearstick gaiter retrofitted to original auto centre console
                      Sonichi S7000 CD/DVD/USB headunit
                      Ipod dock retrofitted to console
                      Vibe mids in back
                      Pioneer co-axials in front
JBL sub and box to be fitted, waiting on amp
fixed issue with switching on the radio and losing power to the windows/sunroof
deaded the 5 speed that was swapped in and replaced with one from an 89 325iS (box has 122k, my car has 120k so good match)
replaced instrument cluster (replacement fron same 89 iS so clocks read 122k and they have the revised fuel gauge that doesnt bounce)
replacement exhaust mid section (whole system VHT painted)
full underside of car coated in "hammered black" hammerite including all inner arches, suspension arms, etc..
most recent gearbox cleaned and painted in hammerite "hammered silver"
                      intake manifold VHT painted silver
rocker cover VHT painted silver (prob be changing it)
BMC direct air intake system (sealed aerodynamic filter with big flexi air feed)
                      Venom Motorsport 7000rpm chip
                      Scorpion muffler
shimmed rear of hood and cut out the middle part of the rubber seal giving me a 1 inch gap for better cooling
larger E36 radiator (to be fitted, awaiting electric fan conversion bits as doing both at same time)
new exhaust hangers (to be fitted)
new exhaust manifold gaskets (waiting till i get a full performance system)
new exhaust manifold studs and nuts (as above)
new rocker cover gasket (to be fitted)
new rocker cover studs and nuts (to be fitted)
                      new throttle cable

                      replacement crank pos sensor

im sure i have left plenty out too.. the car is not stock but it does look stock. i will say its not that far off stock but the point of the pic was to try and illustrate the work that has gone into a basically standard looking car.

also the blue hoses were leftovers from my previous car and only used because the old ones were leaking and i had the hose just laying around.
