Some Recent Pics of my iX...

haven't posted a lot over here, but I snapped some pictures a few days ago and figured Id post em up. just a stockish 5 speed coupe ix with bilstein hd's and some euro/"is" bits. Just got finished reworking the entire cooling system, replacing all the power steering lines when disaster struck. My splines shattered causing my transfer case to explode yesterday. not a cheap fix, but I'm driving up to New Hampshire next week to pick up the tcase and driveshaft. maintain those splines ix'ers :hitler:

yes, it was idling a bit high. teh adjusting screw and nut on the throttle cable is siezed pretty well and I keep messing around with it, got it back at around 800 rpm before the tcase went up

and yesterday. first time I ever had to call AAA or get the car up on a flat bed. really nasty feeling when your car breaks down on you in the middle of a road. just kind of bored as I have no car for the next week lol :???:

future plans after its all fixed up is finish my suspension (h&r ix springs) grab a few oem bits like floormats and maybe a cd-43, mark d chip and an MT1 wheel, replace some more maintenance parts (valve cover gasket, spark plugs, random rubber bits) and then I think i'm done with it. just picked up a set of bottlecaps to replace my steelies for winter duty (blizzaks) so I may have some fun painting them some color. motors all stock (besides some dumbass cone filter I installed into the stock airbox using an elbow pipe and an adapter) and an ebay chip the previous owner installed. but....any suggestions?

and how it looks in its element

Good angles here...I can't even see a bent valence! :giggle:

I'm glad you're fixing it dude. I'm sorry I wasn't of much help when you called, because we both figured these tranny's were rather bulletproof. Does the t case break easier on IX's??

But goddamn lol @ "Im not fred, the fix isn't buying an e46 lol"

No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan.

            that valence....

It's all right man. There was no way of knowing the issue without removing major parts. figured it was a clutch or tranny related but instead it was my worst fear. I was an idiot for not maintainig the driveline, and this is what I get. Oh and dont go to Tonys Impoted Auto, I brought my car there about 2 years ago and asked if he could inspect my splines and regrease them, he said its impossible and a sealed part. I told him he was wrong, he got butthurt since he "knows every bmw ever built" and I guess im not welcome back anymore lol  anyways I should have taken it elsewhere or try to do it myself.

not sure about the t-case strength but the splines are rather iffy. people have been know to reinforce them or lengthen them. and when that goes...

Yeah Tony is a douche. Never go to him. The best guys to go to in the area HANDS DOWN is http://www.neoautos.com/. The guys down there kick ass...one of them even owns an E30! (his second daily driver and his first BMW). And our join date is the same because I told you to join r3v after I discovered it!

                          nice clean car

what likely happened was the grease in your splines probably dried out (or oxidized). splines rust, driveshaft strips. doh! you should be checking that once a year. I'm planning on checking mine at the end of the summer. it's really easy (6 bolts that hold on the driveshaft and a centering pin) so no excuses. ;)

oh yeah, while you have the t-case out rebuild that shifter linkage. it's the only way to get to it anyway. I'd suggest a Z3 1.9 lever, the stock ix lever is like a freakin' row boat.
