Weeeeell ever since wrecking the 328 I've been looking into getting a E30. My first 5 cars were all V-dubs and I always felt a little out of place in the E36, like I wasnt douchey enough or something, but I was hooked on RWD. So like many others before me I began the search, knocking on doors, asking the few other BMW owners in the area if they knew of any. The first car was a '91 325i with a "new" head and transmission but a bad bottom end. The car looked like it had been in the middle of a playground, it was dark red(sorry for not knowing the name)with dents, scratches, dings, and pieces missing all over. Then there was the rust. Around the licence plate lights, around the taillights, on the bottom of the back window, wheel wells, etc. Sooo I ended up passing on that, although I'm still working out a way to score it as a parts car, and moved on. Just for a break here's a random Group 5 pic

Well about 2 months later a guy comes to my job(a Ford stealership) and asks me if I was still looking for a BMW. I told him I was and he said he had a '86 for only 600 dollars. So as you can imagine I looked at it that night. It was a Lapis Blue 325 with Natur interior and I was sold. The car had 130k on the odo and a perfect(almost)interior but was just an object in his yard geting mowed around. The inspection ran out in 6/06 and it apparently had alternator and fuel pump issues. I talked him down a little and after selling the M52 I was able to get it from him for 200 bucks! Went last night and picked it up, and boy was it fun!
a pic from when I first went and checked it out

I did just buy a '94 Ranger but didn't think it had the balls to tow the car on a trailer so I borrowed a '97 V8 F-150 that was just traded in and headed to my friend who had a car trailer we could use we just had to "take some stuff off of it". We get to the house and there is this huge all steel homemade trailer with tons of crap on it, I wish I had a pic but dude was pretty shady. There were outboard motors, bags of trash, 4'x4' homemade steel mailbox projects, cans, bottles, and a huge pair of solid steel boat trailer axles on top with 4 wheels atached to eachother. The guy is sitting there telling us that it took 8 people to get them on the trailer and my hopes are fading fast. All of a sudden like 5 dudes roll out of the house and we flip them up on their end and off the trailer.
About 2 miles up the road it starts to rain and the wiring is fucked on the trailer so we're on the backroads with a massive black death box behind us, and at an estimated 4000lbs, pushing us every time we brake.
We get to the house and start to load the car, trying a tie-down to the back of the trailer and wratcheting it up out of the grass ruts it was in and braking loose the rear brakes. We had to wratchet it up the ramps because our "winch" was a chain engine pulley and wouldn't reach that far. Then about 20 min of pulling the chain to get it onto the ramp and we tie it down and turn on the parking lights so the trailer wouldn't be so invisible at night.

hard to make out but thats what she looked like behind us

This morning and today. I feel like the car is happy it's geting a second chance.

All of the paint is oxidized but can be easily brought back, the rough spot is on the pass. side where the clear is flaking off.

The only place I've spotted rust

except for here but it looks like the water hadn't been there long, I removed all the water right after this pic, will check out underneath tomorrow. It looked like the rust was from the tools

and on to the almost immaculate interior, check the rad Jensen speakers!

I have the faceplate, its a Kenwood circa 1999ish but apparently it works! Anyone know what the one button is thats all corroded? Also looks like I need a new OBC

The pelican parts book came monday at work, and suprisingly signed by the author Wayne R. Dempsey! The bentley came Monday evening when I went home and checked the mail thanks to a fellow r3V member, thanks again man! i also went Monday night and picked up the keys

Last night we went and got the car and today at work this came! Good week so far! Did I mention I got the ranger for 600.00?

Well thats the end of the beginning, sorry for the rambling, just wanted to share. All haters welcome! Hilarious wheels in the works. DBs staying untucked. Soon to be a little less 4x4 status as soon as she gets running and in a state of proper tune.
