a friend of mine let me do a trackday in his evo (it was when I had that slammed early model that met it's fate at a high manhole a few years ago).

I loved it. i'd only done trackdays in rwd cars prior. tracking out post apex, just mashing on the throttle, 4 wheel drift using the throttle as well to dictate steering inputs

never tracked an sti though so I don't have anything to compare it to

Tracking awd cars is alot of fun but I think I have the most fun with my mustang on the track...

I don't get that excited over WRXs either. they can make a lot of power but a lot of the highly modded ones can't handle the stress of track use (as you found out). and yes, there are like a billion of them here. I think I've seen one evo-x..
