I've gotten over the disappointment of failure, and thought I'd share my struggle
with you all. After finally getting around to tearing out the steering rack the
problem was worse than i began with. I ended up taking the car to TNG
automotive to have a refurbished rack with new tie rods put into the car, and
its handling much better now, not to mention its not pissing half a quart of ATF
            a day from the rack&pinion.

a few shots i took of the 'process' mind you i was working alone and frustrated
I didn't find much time to snap shots along the whole process.

bad omen, my sad little bottlecaps crying liquid wrench, the lugbolts were siezed.

after three days of fussing under the car i was finally able to pull the rack.

            NOODZ!!!

last week i ran my car into a huge can opener. :(

needless to say it was a sad week.

With luck, I was able to source parts quickly and got to work...

                enter the culprits

                begin work

and after some hours of being in the garage lot...

                              thanks guys!

Rob - bad timing on the grilles yes, but i just need to find one, and i was actually not all
that upset because out of sheer coincidence i didn't install the ellipsoids the day of the wreck.

N2 - thanks and while everything is nice and straight il soon take it apart again to polish off
the job, that little wing thing thats on the apron has a curved lip that i want to get just right
so il get back to it all, sand off the remaining chipped paint, and refinish it. Even though im
in SoCal, i dont want it any more likely to develop rust.

Chabs - there will be no slamming here, a decent drop for sure, but i think in general i want
a subtle oem+ look to the car. bottlecaps are on their way out, but priorities say that its not
                              time yet.

Kikko - local member had one actually that he had been sitting on for a while now. are you
looking for a white one aswell? and thanks!
