    Hello! Alpine 318is from MN

I am a member of a local club and always hear about this forum. Decided I would jump in. I have owned this car for close to 7 years and there has been something about it ever since. Always puts a smile to my face. Here are some stats and some pics. Not perfect by any means, but a great summer car and always gives me something to do.

    Car and Year: 1991 E30 BMW 318is 5 Speed LSD 168K

Engine: M42 16v DOHC 1.8 (Dinan chipped, Schrick cams, Bavarian Autosport ignition wires, Full Synthetics, K&N Intake, Straight pipes, No cat, Flowmaster exhaust, Custom headers)

Chassis: Bilstein HD's, M-technic springs and control arms, 14" original BBS basketweaves and 17" Sport Design rims, Front strut and Rear strut brace

Body Styling: Kamei front spoiler, Racing Dynamics side skirts and rear apron, Euro smilies and fogs, Euro plate, 13% tint, Black mirrors, is black spoiler, LED tail lighting

Interior: 13 OBC, Mint sport interior, M3 style gauge cluster, Small monitor in dash with dvd and factory Alpine CD changer in trunk, Heated seats, Custom black mats, Rear headrests, Stellar/Autolock alarm, Keyless entry, Car phone, Aluminum pedals, M Shifter, K40 Radar dectector System (Factory BMW Fitted, sits on Steering column)

Other: All factory books (15+), Sticker, All receipts, Original paint, glass, and interior. This car has everything from the flashlight in the glovebox to all stickers in the engine bay to the small tool in the toolkit that everyone misses. But most importantly, the car runs amazing and has never given me a problem in 50k miles. Next to will most likely be a new chain tensioner as with the mileage, I believe is a good time to replace.

I know, total bash on the great I6's, but the 4, 8 and 12 cylinder rides are something else :) As mentioned, a tensioner is next along with some new suspension components. Possible HID's? 5lug? A Downing Atlanta would be nice too :)

Well, the stock BBS are great and have a nice ride, the 17" are a lot more rough because of the tires but are nice because they are Alpina replicas, but I would eventually like to find a nice set of BBS's or AC's. In a perfect world, the 5lug swap would be a great project, but I don't know when I could do that.

wow – a lot of nice features on that car. That front lip with its ‘organic/curvy’ characteristics plays well with the RD skirts. Pulling off organic features on an otherwise boxy e30 is tricky. Pleasure to see what RD skirts + RD rear apron looks like. I think if the mirrors were color-matched, their boxy-ness would stick out and conflict with those skirts. ‘meh’ on the //M badges. Props to nice accessories in the interior dept.

Some RD wheels would be super-titties.. but yeah, good luck finding a good set.

Cool car – thanks for sharing!

Thanks, I really like the simplicity and the look of the RD wheels and love them on some members rides. Don't know if they are for me though. I appreciate the comment on the mirrors, as I agree and most people do not pick up on that. I painted them flat black to go with the white/black contrast throughout the car. Also, the front and rear M badge came from the dealer when sold. I have them on the sticker to show. Stock option for cars with the M-Technic goodies. That is why they are still on. Originality and actual meaning.

It looks like the color on the lip, sides and rear is off. But other than that it looks sweet. Welcome.

You are right, the color of the lip, skirts, and rear are alpine white III, not the APII that I have. The paint was free and when I have time I plan on painting accordingly

Could you elaborate on the iDrive looking display?

it even says 1991 e30 down at the bottom...
