To the original poster, im sure you are still reading this: You have a real M3. Look on the car for a "M" vin, it will start WBSAK, the 318i vin would not have the "S". You can look on the cowl, but i have a feeling this has been filled in there. pull the rear bumper and look at the vin's on the 1/4 panels. You might find a build sheet under the rear seat with the real vin. Send me a message with the real vin, I'll find out the real story for you. Sounds like an unrecovered theft.

Oh, and Blunt for President, your got my vote.

This is the funniest thread I've read in a while.....
The 318 decals mean squat. What's the VIN? That would solve this whole issue and if there are no VINs then your car is stolen.
BTW- The M3 door and rear quarter panel are unique to the M3 therefore neither of those items would be retained from the "original 318i" body, therefore after the conversion someone would have had to put new decals there.

I am taking my M3 into the DMV and having it rebadged/registered as a wide body 318i.
I love the body kit on this thing.

The 3rd brake light is mounted up high. My understanding this was done on M3 due to the tall wing. Others are mounted down low. Correct me if I am wrong. Someone else mentioned the coolant reservior as well and the antena. You would expect this from someone someone doing a full conversion. The cost to do a full conversion IMO is cost prohibative(SP?). It is a detail that would be easy to overlook. I would be pulling off bumpers and checking VIN numbers on all the panels. If they are none to be found I am bet this car was stolen and given a new title long ago.

It reminds me of a thread I read about a guy who bought an M3 that was a re-constructed stolen car. I am not saying it is but there is clearly something up with this.

OP-Those Kosei wheels are not very good. I will be kind and take them off of your hands for $200 shipped.
