i know that this is an e30 site and don't get me wrong but if i had to pick an entry class bmw it'd be a 2002 if i had to pick a 5 hands down e34 a 6 it's be the old 635csi (if i couldn't have a 3.0csl) a 7 it'd be a 2001 750il (manual swap) and 8 obviosly 850csi and a z series it'd be a z3m coupe screw the x series

How tight is the m20 fit into a 2002? I have a soon to be spare complete ETA engine and I'd love to have a 2002 in my collection. Figure the ETA 2.7 will scoot it along nicely without roasting any tires.Need a part? PM me.

M20's are the easiest engines to transplant into 2002's. Pretty straight forward. Just have to move the battery to the trunk and figure out a place for the ecu blah blah. As far as your transmission choice, that could be a different story. But if you use a e21 4 or 5 speed you just gotta beat the tunnel with a hammer to ensure it fits
