    New CF Hood

So I picked up a VIS CF Hood this past weekend only to read about the horrible fitment AFTER I purchased and picked up. I'll be to do some searches prior to purchasing next time.

Anyways, after adding some spacers to the driver side "hinges" and longer bolts, we were able to eliminate the huge gap that's commonly found on the passenger side of the VIS hood. Overall it don't look all that bad but judge for yourself. I also took a couple pics before the swap. Enjoy

While I agree that non-full Cf hoods are FTL... the VIS hood is significantly lighter than stock.

is the DTM fiber.... one real CF or FG core?

does it have the same fitment issues?

I think people go for looks more than weight when they go CF:)

how much less, 10-15lbs? the stock hood is about 40lbs. a real CF hood weighs 10.

Sorry i should have taken pics of the poor fitment. The gap was significant on passenger side compared to driver side.

The reason why i bought it was not soley based on appearance. My oem hood had a few good size dents along with the clear coat peeling. So I was in the market for a CF hood and I figured why not since I could use the weight savings since I use the car for the track too.

I got hooked up on the pricing which is why i said ok. I know that this fiberglass core CF wrapped hood isn't as light as the $1000 10lb ones out there, but whatever. For the price I paid I can live with the minor imperfections of the fitment (after the adjustment).

Would I pay the retail price on this hood? No way. As others have already mentioned the fitment is poor and it's not all CF. But in my case it was worth it. It's a little hard to tell in the picture or maybe it's obvious, but since we basically had to "shift" the direction that the hood closes in order to minimize that gap on the passenger side, the front edge on the passenger side sits a tiny bit lower than the driver side.

Here are the pics of both sides AFTER the adjustment so you can compare the gaps.

yes i got it for very cheap. so the price of trying to either source another white hood and/or to fix and respray would have been comparable to the price I paid for this.

Car look amazing - I can really tell you put some work into the small details.

But the hood, fits like shit and makes the car look stupid mad tight, JDM, street racer, retard style.

                          It was better stock. Sorry.

I don't like how the driver's side edge doesn't match the fender edge just above the low beam, that would piss me off more than the difference in gaps side to side.

haha yeah that's what my friend said. he said to get it painted or else it'd look ricer. But I don't know when i'll get bored of it and I figure when or if that time comes, it'll be easier to sell it in cf color instead of AW. But thanks for your honesty.
